Tesla is seeking a motivated, experienced, and knowledgeable Material Planner to work in our Spares department. The ideal candidate will have experience performing both material planning and procurement in a manufacturing environment, with processing equipment. This position will require a person that can understand the details of manufacturing processes and business needs.
- Plan, schedule, and manage assigned critical spare parts for various product lines and facilities
- Collaborate and communicate with Sustaining Engineering and Maintenance teams for part identification, required for minimum inventory needs and urgent orders
- Work closely with Spares manager and technicians for physical inventory audits, shipping, receiving and logistic support
- Monitor part coverage, track consumption trends and execute/adjust orders as needed based on demand and capacity changes
- Bring awareness in advance to critical inventory shortage and/or supply restraints; suggest and find alternative part and sourcing options
- Work with suppliers to issue RFQ for sourcing. Purchasing assigned materials; issue RTV orders for warranty, exchange, and refurbishment options to reduce cost
- Identify new suppliers and implement contract business opportunities to benefit Tesla
- Work fluidly in a highly cross-functional team environment involving manufacturing and product development teams, as well as supply chain specialists, manufacturing engineers, and logistics personnel
- Identify and implement opportunities to bring Total Cost of Ownership down for supercharger sites and energy products, ensuring compliance with responsible sourcing
- Manage RFPs, negotiate proposals & set up contracts
- Developing data collection, understanding of cost drivers based on raw material and macro-economic trends
- Maintaining day-to-day supplier relationships, including performance review, catalogues updated, pricing and orders
- Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
