    Description

AWS Marketing is seeking a Marketing Technology Manager, Global Marketing Programs to support the Events, Sports, and Sponsorship (ESS) team. Modeled after the Forward Deployed Engineer concept, this role is deeply embedded with ESS sub-teams - sitting alongside stakeholders to understand workflows firsthand and build custom solutions that solve real operational problems. You will manage cross-functional programs including application security compliance, marketing technology strategy, digital asset management, and workflow automation - with a focus on being AI-native wherever possible. This role functions as a critical pan-ESS overlay across SSEP, Sponsorship, Global 1P and 3P Events, and Content and Platform Ops, while owning dedicated partnerships with shared service teams including Strategy & Ops, Marketer Experience, Customer Research, Events Technology, and Data: Science and Engineering. A core function is building tools and systems that deliver scalable enablement motions to customer-facing field roles. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, deploys directly to teams to prototype solutions rapidly, and brings a balance of technical acumen, stakeholder management, and a Bias for Action to drive operational excellence.

    Key job responsibilities

    Tooling Strategy & Automation

    • Create and own the technology tooling roadmap for the ESS organization, focusing on efficiency, scale, and evaluation of buy vs. build trade-offs with an AI-first approach
    • Optimize marketing technology tools based on ESS' needs including Airtable, Amazon S3, Asana, Workfront, Quick, SharePoint, Highspot, DAM/MAM, Box,- building SOPs, managing access requests, configuring automations, and driving workflow optimization
    • Own continued tooling and workflow evaluations; develop and introduce new workflows to enhance team productivity

Forward Deployed Engineering & Embedded Solutions

    • Embed directly with ESS sub-teams (Events, Sports, Sponsorships) through rotational assignments, office hours, and on-demand sprints - observing workflows, surfacing automation opportunities, and delivering hands-on technical enablement
    • Serve as the technical bridge between ESS teams and centralized Marketing Technology partners, translating business needs into technical requirements and advocating for scalable, extensible solutions
    • Build bespoke internal tools, agents, and skills tailored to specific team workflows that would not otherwise be prioritized on a central roadmap (e.g., Airtable automations, QuickSight dashboards, custom integrations)
    • Champion technical self-service by training non-technical team members on low-code platforms, AI assistants, and internal tooling

    Security & Compliance

    • Own and manage the end-to-end third-party Application Security (AppSec) review process for the ESS team, including ticket submissions, vendor relationships, compliance monitoring, security reviews, and close partnership with Marketing Security teams

    Content & Data Operations¬¬¬

    • Own documentation and knowledge graph strategy across ESS, with a focus on ensuring files and data are structured for seamless utilization by agentic tools and AI workflows
    • Drive site maintenance and content redesign for ESS Team SharePoint and Wiki pages
    • Yellow badge onboarding - Continue streamlining and systemizing operational workflows, including identifying opportunities to collaborate with IT to reduce onboarding time and accelerate new team member ramp-up.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
