Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Industrial & Commercial Transportation business is accelerating the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital manufacturing, and advanced analytics to improve operational performance across global manufacturing sites.

As a Manufacturing and Process Development Engineer II focused on AI and Digital Manufacturing Solutions, you will bridge the gap between manufacturing operations, process engineering, data science, AI development teams, and business stakeholders. You will be responsible for identifying manufacturing challenges, translating them into AI-enabled opportunities, and supporting the deployment, industrialization, and continuous improvement of AI solutions across manufacturing operations.

You will work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, IT, Data Analytics, and AI Project Champions to ensure AI solutions deliver measurable business value, are scalable across multiple sites, and become sustainable components of daily operations.

Job Requirements

You will collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, IT, and plant leadership to:

AI Opportunity Development & Manufacturing Integration

• Identify challenges in manufacturing, quality, productivity, maintenance, supply chain, and operations addressable by AI and analytics.
• Serve as the technical liaison among Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, AI Project Champions, Digital Transformation, and IT/Data Science.
• Translate manufacturing and operational needs into AI business cases and technical requirements.
• Convert AI outputs into actionable manufacturing and operational processes.
• Prioritize AI opportunities by value, feasibility, scalability, complexity, and impact.
• Define success criteria, KPIs, benefits, and value plans for AI projects.

AI Solution Development & Deployment

• Support design, development, validation, and deployment of AI solutions in manufacturing.
• Collaborate with IT, developers, data engineers, and partners to build scalable AI aligned with business goals.
• Review AI models and architectures for manufacturing feasibility and sustainability.
• Ensure AI solutions are practical, scalable, maintainable, and deployable across facilities.
• Participate in testing, piloting, validation, and industrialization of AI applications.
• Support deployment of AI assistants, predictive tools, automation, and decision-support systems.
• Develop roadmaps to move AI initiatives from proof-of-concept to industrial production.

Digital Manufacturing & Data Analytics

• Analyze manufacturing processes, performance, quality, equipment use, capacity, and variation with advanced analytics.
• Work with sites to define data needs, collection, governance, and reporting.
• Support digital manufacturing solutions using AI, machine learning, BI, process mining, automation, and industrial data.
• Integrate AI solutions into operational workflows and management systems.
• Use data from MES, ERP, production, quality, maintenance, databases, and IoT platforms.

AI Governance & Operational Excellence

• Collaborate with AI Champions, Operations, and IT to establish AI governance, standards, security, and support.
• Define and track KPIs for AI adoption, effectiveness, engagement, impact, and sustainability.
• Develop methodologies, templates, frameworks, and best practices for AI projects.
• Capture lessons learned and improve AI deployment processes.
• Align solutions with TE Operating Advantage principles and continuous improvement.
• Support change management, user adoption, training, and readiness.

Project Leadership

• Lead multiple AI and Digital Manufacturing projects from concept to deployment.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams across Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, IT, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and technology providers.
• Manage scope, timelines, risks, budgets, and communications.
• Present status, business cases, metrics, and results to leadership.
• Provide technical coaching and mentorship on AI, analytics, automation, and digital manufacturing.

Your Immediate Customers

Your primary customers include manufacturing plants, operations leadership, engineering, quality, and AI Champions across ICT.

You will:

• Partner with site leadership to identify and prioritize high-value AI opportunities.
• Support sites during AI deployment and stabilization.
• Collaborate with plant teams to ensure solutions meet needs and deliver results.
• Drive standardization and scalability of AI implementations across facilities.
• Partner with Finance and Operations to validate project benefits and value realization.

Your ideal profile:

• 2-5 years experience in manufacturing, operations, process development, industrial engineering, automation, digital transformation, analytics, or related technical disciplines.
• Experience working within manufacturing environments and understanding manufacturing processes.
• Experience with data analytics, digital manufacturing, automation, AI, machine learning, business intelligence, or process improvement initiatives is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial operations.
• Knowledge of AI, Machine Learning, Generative AI, Digital Assistants, Advanced Analytics, or Intelligent Automation concepts.
• Experience with tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform, Power BI, SQL, Python, Azure AI, Microsoft Fabric, or related analytics platforms is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with MES, ERP, manufacturing data systems, industrial databases, and operational reporting environments.
• Practical knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TEOA, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to translate business challenges into technical solutions.

Leadership & Communication

• Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively across manufacturing, engineering, operations, IT, and executive leadership teams.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Ability to influence without direct authority and drive cross-functional collaboration.

Travel

• Travel up to 25-30%, including international manufacturing locations.
