    Description

    Tesla Manufacturing Engineers have the important role of designing "The machine that builds the machine". We work with the cross-functional teams (Design, Quality, Production, Sustaining, and Supply Chain) throughout the entire lifecycle of a product (from initial design through prototype development and into full production) to develop high quality and efficient manufacturing equipment and processes that will produce Tesla's cutting-edge power electronics. This role is located at Tesla s Gigafactory in Austin, TX.

    • Develop manufacturing equipment, fixtures, and processes to support early-stage prototype builds and scalable production
    • Determine, procure, and qualify all equipment required for manufacturing processes
    • Partner with equipment integrators to design and build tools and fixtures for medium to high-volume production
    • Manage suppliers through specification, design, buyoff, and installation of manufacturing equipment
    • Characterize, validate, and introduce new equipment and fixtures to the production floor
    • Define production layouts for optimal product flow, ergonomics, and efficiency while developing detailed work instructions and training materials
    • Lead process analysis activities including DOE, PFMEA, line balancing, and capacity modeling, and provide DFM input to improve manufacturability and yield
    • 5+ years of experience as a hands-on mechanical or manufacturing engineer working on electromechanical systems
    • Experience using 2D cad tools for conceptual line design (AutoCAD) and 3D design for mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling (SolidWorks or CATIA)
    • Experience with conveyance, transducer-based fastening systems, robotic systems (Fanuc preferred)
    • Experience creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment
    • Experience providing Design for Manufacturability and Automation
    • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
