    The Opportunity

    This position is an onsite opportunity within the Abbott Diabetes Care Division in Alameda, California. We are helping people with diabetes lead healthier, happier lives.     The Sr. Manager, Supply Chain & Logistics is responsible for leading strategic logistics programs across transportation, warehousing, distribution, and freight operations. The position partners closely with Supply Chain Planning, Procurement, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Finance, Quality, and external logistics providers to achieve operational excellence and deliver best-in-class customer service.

    Up to 20% travel, domestic and international

    This is an onsite opportunity in Alameda, CA.

    What You’ll Work On

    Transportation & Freight Management

    • Develop and implement transportation strategies that optimize cost, service, and capacity.
    • Manage domestic and international freight operations across multiple modes, including truckload, LTL, parcel, ocean, and air freight.
    • Lead carrier sourcing, selection, contracting, and performance management activities.
    • Monitor freight spend and identify opportunities for cost reduction and network optimization.
    • Ensure carrier compliance with safety, regulatory, and company requirements.
    • Planning efforts related to logistics operations.

    Distribution Operations

    • Oversee warehouse and distribution activities to ensure on-time and accurate order fulfillment.
    • Drive inventory flow improvements across distribution centers and transportation networks.
    • Establish and monitor service-level agreements (SLAs) with internal stakeholders and third-party logistics providers.
    • Lead capacity planning and peak-season readiness initiatives.
    • Support business continuity and contingency planning.

    Strategic Leadership

    • Develop long-term distribution network strategies aligned with business objectives.
    • Lead transportation and warehouse optimization projects.
    • Utilize analytics and modeling tools to improve network efficiency and customer service.
    • Identify automation and digital transformation opportunities within logistics operations.
    • Build and execute logistics roadmaps that support growth and operational scalability

    Financial Management

    • Manage freight and distribution budgets.
    • Analyze transportation and warehousing costs and identify savings opportunities.
    • Develop business cases and ROI analyses for logistics investments.
    • Ensure budget adherence while maintaining service expectations.

    Team Leadership

    • Lead, mentor, and develop logistics, transportation, and distribution teams.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.
    • Support talent development and succession planning efforts.
    • Manage cross-functional project teams and influence stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field.
    • 7+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, transportation, distribution, or program management.
    • Minimum 1 year of people management
    • Strong knowledge of freight operations, transportation management, distribution networks, and warehouse operations.
    • Experience managing external carriers, freight providers, and 3PL partners.
    • Experience with SAP, WMS, TMS and reporting tools.
    • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • MBA or Master's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or Operations Management.
    • PMP, Lean Six Sigma, APICS/ASCM CPIM, CSCP, or CLTD certification.
    • Experience in highly regulated industries such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, or manufacturing.
    • Experience leading global logistics and distribution programs.
    • Knowledge of trade compliance, customs regulations, and international transportation.

         

    The base pay for this position is

    $148,700.00 – $297,300.00

    In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
