Job Summary


The Sr. Manager, Operations Enablement is a hands-on, results-driven leader deployed into underperforming or stressed markets to rapidly diagnose issues and drive measurable operational and financial improvements. This role partners closely with field leadership to stabilize performance, improve execution, and build sustainable operating discipline within stores or regions. Success is defined by speed to impact, quality of execution, and sustainable performance improvement.


This position requires comfort with ambiguity, frequent travel, and direct engagement with store-level teams. Drives initiatives in support of best-in-class retail and pharmacy processes; implements best practices to enhance efficiency and the customer / patient experience.


Job Responsibilities


Rapid Assessment & Diagnosis


+ Lead short-cycle assessments of store or regional performance across sales, labor, inventory, shrink, and customer experience,

+ Identify root causes of underperformance using data, field observation, and leader/team interviews (data-driven but pragmatic).

+ Prioritize issues based on financial impact, operational risk, and speed to resolution.


Execution & Performance Improvement


+ Develop and lead targeted action plans to drive immediate operational and financial results,

+ Coach store and field leaders on execution discipline, labor management, inventory controls, and standard operating practices.

+ Directly support stores during critical recovery periods, including on-site leadership as needed.

+ Remove barriers to execution by escalating issues, aligning resources, and driving accountability.


Leadership & Influence


+ Partner with field leaders and functional teams to align on recovery plans.

+ Build credibility quickly with field leaders and store teams through visible, hands-on leadership.

+ Reinforce performance expectations while maintaining trust and engagement.


Measurement & Sustainability


+ Track progress against defined metrics (sales, EBITDA, labor efficiency, shrink, RX metrics).

+ Ensure improvements are embedded into routines, standards, and leader capability before exiting the market.

+ Provide clear readouts to senior leadership on outcomes, risks, and next steps.

+ Function as a subject matter expert in reviewing training documents and standard operating procedures as they relate to retail and pharmacy operations.

+ Under supervision of the pharmacist, strictly adheres to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription-dispensing activities and understands their role in ensuring that the elements of Good Faith Dispensing are met.

+ Maintains PTCB or ExCPT certification through the designated training program and/or state required certification/registration within assigned region or pharmacist license if registered pharmacist.

+ Maintains immunizer certification through the designated training program and/or state required certification/registration within assigned region.

+ Maintains and enhances current knowledge and skills related to retail and pharmacy.

Basic Qualifications


+ High School Diploma or GED (internal candidates); Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of retail management experience or High School Diploma/GED and 7 years of retail management experience.

+ At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.

+ At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.

+ Willing to travel up to/at least 85% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).


Preferred Qualifications


+ BS in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an accredited educational institution.

+ Walgreens Operations experience; experience in transformation projects or special projects teams.

+ Experience with leading projects (for example: organizing and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).

+ Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at various levels of the organization, such as peers, internal/external stakeholders, business partners, senior level managers.

+ Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

+ Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office suite of products.
