Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in COBOL-based application development, maintenance, and support. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge of IBM mainframe technologies and tools, with a proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues, optimize system performance, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
o Design, develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL II, JCL, CICS, and related technologies.
o Develop and support online and batch processing applications in a mainframe environment.
o Work with VSAM files for data storage, retrieval, and maintenance activities.
o Create and maintain screen maps using SDF II (COBOL Maps).
o Perform debugging and issue resolution using CEDF (CICS Debug Utility) and IBM Debugging Utility.
o Utilize File Manager/FileAid tools for data analysis, testing, and troubleshooting.
o Analyze application performance and implement system-level tuning and optimization.
o Support system security, stability, and compliance requirements.
o Investigate and resolve production incidents and technical issues in a timely manner.
o Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and development teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
o Prepare technical documentation and participate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
o Strong proficiency in COBOL II, JCL, CICS, and other mainframe programming technologies.
o Hands-on experience with VSAM files.
o Experience using SDF II (COBOL Maps).
o Experience with CEDF (CICS Debug Utility).
o Experience with File Manager or FileAid tools.
o Experience with IBM Debugging Utility.
o Knowledge of system-level debugging, performance tuning, and system security.
o Experience with Easytrieve.
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
o Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
o Experience supporting large-scale enterprise mainframe applications
o Familiarity with production support and incident management processes
o Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and best practices
