Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Licensed Vocational Nurse (Sr. LVN) provides clinical and administrative support to patients and a multidisciplinary team within the Connie Frank Kidney Transplant Center. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide patient care and support for pre- and post-kidney transplant patients and living donors.
  • Support in-person and telehealth clinic visits, including patient intake and follow-up.
  • Triage patient calls and respond to clinical questions and care needs.
  • Coordinate care with physicians, pharmacies, insurance providers, referring offices, and other healthcare partners.
  • Reconcile patient medications and medical histories and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Obtain vital signs and perform central line blood draws and maintenance.
  • Administer IV fluids and piggyback infusions as ordered.
  • Process prior authorizations and Medi-Cal exemptions.
  • Promote efficient patient flow and continuity of care across multiple specialties and care settings.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for patients and families, providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Follow UCLA Health System principles and contribute to a high-quality patient experience through C-I-Care/Patient Experience practices.

Salary Range: $38.54-$50.84/hourly

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Possess license issued by the State of CA Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners with Intravenous Therapy and blood withdrawal certification

  • Possession of BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

  • Skill to Perform phlebotomy, CPR, Injections, and other skills within scope of practice

  • Knowledge of all instruments and supplies to perform physical examinations and/or procedures

  • Ability to take vital signs, administer medications and obtain drug refills as needed

  • Ability to recognize abnormal laboratory values and report to the physician

  • Knowledge of symptomatology of common and or life threatening medical problems

  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills, Windows computer function, computer navigation, and ability to use computerized patient care systems.

  • Knowledge of all safety requirements when handling biohazardous specimens or contaminated instruments

  • Interpersonal skills in maintaining a cooperative working environment with the physicians, staff, and all health providers

Preferred:

  • 6+ months of LVN experience
