    Description

    Duration: 6+ months

The Senior Engineer, Long Haul Wave owns the complete lifecycle of backbone wavelength services, from feasibility analysis and end-to-end optical design through provisioning, validation, customer turn-up, and final service acceptance. Operating within a single-owner delivery model, this role is accountable for delivering production-ready optical circuits across metro ingress, the national backbone, and metro egress while ensuring service quality, network stability, and customer satisfaction.

    Requirements:

    • 10+ years of hands-on experience with Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) optical transport engineering in a carrier or large-scale service provider environment.
    • Expertise in optical transport engineering, including Reconfigurable Optical Add-Drop Multiplexer (ROADM) architectures, wavelength planning, Optical Signal-to-Noise Ratio (OSNR), optical amplification, regeneration, dispersion, and optical power budgets.
    • Hands-on experience provisioning and troubleshooting multi-vendor optical transport platforms.
    Responsibilities:
    • Design end-to-end backbone wavelength services, including feasibility analysis, route selection, spectrum engineering, wavelength assignment, regeneration planning, optical reach validation, and hardware selection.
    • Provision, configure, and validate wavelength services across Nokia and Ciena optical transport platforms while maintaining accurate implementation records and circuit documentation.
    • Perform end-to-end testing, optical validation, customer acceptance, and production turn-up, including optical power verification, performance testing, and service quality validation.
    • Troubleshoot complex optical transport issues across metro, backbone, and vendor boundaries, coordinating with field operations, network operations, and vendor technical support as needed.
    • Maintain complete engineering documentation, as-built records, circuit labeling, validation results, and implementation artifacts throughout the service lifecycle.
    • Improve delivery efficiency by contributing to automation initiatives, Methods of Procedure (MOPs), implementation standards, and operational documentation.
