As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Commercial & Investment Bank, You will work with a global team of innovators and technologists passionate about improving the way our index business is run. Partnering with our colleagues in the Quantitative Research, Structuring, Trading, Sales and Middle Office teams, you will be called upon to deliver quality code in a fast paced environment that evolves as business opportunities present themselves.
Our platform is built using the Athena platform. It is a cross-market risk management and trading system that provides functionality for traders, salespeople and operations staff globally. Athena includes an engineer friendly integrated development environment, globally replicated object-oriented database, a powerful calculation dependency graph and a fully integrated stack across pricing, risk and trading tools. Athena is designed to provide a continuous deployment environment, and pull developers close to the business to help increase revenues, while improving operational processes and controls to reduce costs. Athena applications are written in Python and Typescript

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
A. Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
The role requires a technically strong and disciplined developer. The successful candidate will be able to make impactful functional deliveries; they will also be one of a handful of senior technologists responsible for influencing design decisions across the group, including ensuring that we continuously improve the platform''s design as we incorporate new capabilities. A record of delivering high quality, well-tested solutions in a mature controlled environment is a prerequisite
Experience in performant, large-scale system development in an object-oriented or functional programming language such as Python, Java, C++ or C#.
Willingness to become proficient and develop in Python if not already a primary language
Demonstrated experience leading effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching senior engineers/leads on compliant usage patterns and controls.
Excellent interpersonal skills to interact confidently and credibly with business users, to understand and agree business requirements and their prioritisation while building a good understanding of end to end business processes
Good understanding of Agile development methodologies, responsible for elucidating and agreeing requirements, building relationships with business users, and taking ownership of deliverables all the way to the production environment
Focus on testing through the entire development cycle to produce reliable and maintainable software
