Sr Java Software Engineer (Healthcare Claims - NIGHT SHIFT)

Minimum of 3-5 years of extensive hands-on experience with Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, Angular, JSP, JDBC, Hibernate, JMX, JMS, Log4J, AJAX, JSF. Strong knowledge of Java Open-Source technologies including Ant, Struts, Spring Boot, XML parser, SOA infrastructure, jUnit, HTTPUnit.

Job Title: Sr Java Software Engineer (Healthcare Claims - Night Shift)
Location: Reston, VA
Type: Contract
Compensation: $75 /hr
Work Model: Hybrid – onsite and remote (mostly remote)
Hours: Overnight schedule; onsite for 2 weeks of training during day shift, then rotating weekend shifts approximately once a month.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of software engineers in the design, development, and implementation of multiple applications.
• Perform and lead the detailed technical design, coding, code review, and testing of new applications and enhancements.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for specified systems and applications.
• Develop and analyze interface design documentation.
• Ensure compliance with hardware and software systems standards and procedures.
• Deliver large systems supporting tens of thousands of users.
• Maintain adherence to dev/sec/ops practices and policies.
• Understand architectural practices and design.
• Identify gaps in requirements and solve problems supporting staff and project deliverables.
• Evaluate risks and opportunities, implementing mitigation strategies.
• Develop performance improvement initiatives and system availability enhancements.
• Compile and assess data from testing and analysis.
• Support project planning and estimation, conferring with clients to define system requirements.
• Lead software design and development teams, managing technical resources.
• Participate in product scoping, architecture discussions, and technology evaluations.
• Ensure code quality, deployment standards, and facilitate mentoring of junior developers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science, or 8+ years of relevant work experience.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of extensive hands-on experience with Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, Angular, JSP, JDBC, Hibernate, JMX, JMS, Log4J, AJAX, JSF.
• Strong knowledge of Java Open-Source technologies including Ant, Struts, Spring Boot, XML parser, SOA infrastructure, jUnit, HTTPUnit.
• Deep understanding of software development best practices (RUP, XP, Agile).
• Experience with object-oriented analysis and design patterns and Java/J2EE technology.
• Wide knowledge of J2EE application servers (WebSphere, Tomcat, JBoss, etc.).
• Experience with Workflow and Rules Engines, performance tuning, and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency with RDBMS (DB2, Oracle, MS SQL), UML, and design patterns.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with stakeholders, elicit requirements, and produce documentation.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) and database technologies (cloud, SQL, Oracle, MongoDB, PostgreSQL).
• Skilled in CI/CD pipelines, test-driven development, automated testing, and deployment practices.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
