    Description

Sr. Inventory and Asset Management role is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and sustainability of an innovative and scalable AR-wide inventory management framework. This role involves collaborating closely with internal supply chain teams, external partner teams (Deployment, Field IT, RME, and Shared Services), and SC supported customer business units (AMZL, ATS, GCF, and GSF) to ensure alignment and successful execution across all stakeholders. They lead the strategic development and deployment of a system-driven inventory audit and cycle count process across a network of over 5,000 sites. A key component of this framework is the implementation and maintenance of data-driven inventory thresholds for more than 12,000 distinct IT products, managing $950MM inventory across 5000+ sites and approximately $600 MM inventory across 13 Rapid Asset Deployment (RAD) centers. Leveraging their analytical expertise, they integrate diverse, multifaceted data sources such as item-specific site-type Bill of Materials (BOM), operational criticality, cost, lead time, and historical demand patterns (including ad-hoc, peak/prime, and ARMA) to drive the dynamic ABC classification across IT product catalogue and define their optimal threshold levels across IT hubs and RAD centers. The role also leads the strategic management of inventory levels for Amazon-owned inventory stored at RADs, VARs, and 3PLs along-side the Field IT Hubs. It involves establishing and executing a standardized process to systematically reduce excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory, valued at over $50+ MM across the Field IT Hubs along-with the implementation of robust controls to ensure the available inventory across the network is effectively leveraged and consumed in accordance with the established policies. In pursuit of cost optimization for Amazon, the role entails the critical task of repurposing, returning, or reselling inventory, guided by stringent eligibility criteria established within the inventory management framework and in alignment with contractual obligations delineated in VAR/OEM agreements. They build and define the business-essential tier-1 and tier-2 inventory and asset metrics which include Optimal Inventory Thresholds (inventory health), Inventory Accuracy Percentage, Asset Shrinkage Percentage, Inventory Availability (Days of Cover), Aged Inventory (slow-moving), Net Book Value reporting, and Excess/Obsolete Inventory as a percentage of total inventory. These metrics determine and advise SC partners and customers on optimal ordering timing for 2.9MM infrastructure and 14.9MM end-user equipment, ensuring orders are placed under lead times, create funding predictions, inventory requirements/rebalancing in the network to support 30+ demand streams encompassing 350+ new site launches, 18+ customer programs, and 27+ lifecycle initiatives, enabling SC to provide an insight-based & data-driven service to customers to operate their business

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
