Amazon Devices is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics. We started with best-selling Kindle family of products in 2004. Since then, we have produced devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, Amazon Echo, and a growing portfolio of wearable devices including smart eye-wear and augmented reality (AR) wearables.
What will you help us create?
Amazon is a leader in developing first-of-its-kind hardware, from Kindle and Echo to Ring and our expanding line of wearable devices. The Amazon Wearables Reliability team is responsible for ensuring that our next-generation wearable products are robust, durable, and delight our customers in everyday use.
In this role, as a Sr. Hardware Reliability Engineer on the Wearables team, you will own the reliability engineering of our wearable device portfolio, spanning smart eyewear, AR-enabled wearables and their accessories. Wearables present unique reliability challenges that go beyond traditional consumer electronics: compact form factors integrating optical waveguides, micro-displays, projection optics, acoustics, sensors, and wireless electronics, all worn on the body and exposed to demanding real-world conditions. You will develop reliability strategies that address these challenges and drive design-for-reliability practices from early concept through mass production.
Key job responsibilities
You should have a strong understanding of reliability statistics, reliability test methods, and consumer electronics or wearable product design, with the ability to influence cross-functional design teams. Specifically, you will:
You will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff spanning hardware, software, optics, human factors, and manufacturing, as well as outside partners, to drive key aspects of product definition, execution, and test. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open, collaborative peer environment where emerging product categories demand creative approaches to reliability engineering
