Sr. Hardware Product Manager (Hybrid - Oak Brook, IL)

About the Team & Role

The ACS Community Business is one of Chamberlain Group's fastest-growing businesses, helping transform the company from a traditional hardware manufacturer into a recurring services and solutions provider. The Product Management team owns the product and solution strategy that drives growth across the community access ecosystem, delivering innovative experiences for gated communities, apartments, condominiums, and townhome developments.

As a Senior Hardware Product Manager, you will own and evolve a portfolio of connected access control hardware solutions, including Smart Video Intercoms, Door Controllers, and Smart Readers. You will be responsible for managing the existing product portfolio while defining the future hardware roadmap that powers and enhances our cloud-based and mobile software experiences. Working at the intersection of hardware, connectivity, software platforms, and customer needs, you will partner closely with software product managers, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions that solve complex access and security challenges for community environments.

This role owns two things: the hardware portfolio — including its go-to-market execution and full P&L (cost, price, revenue, and margin, in dollars and percent) — and the new product development that keeps our hardware roadmap ahead of what our cloud and mobile software needs. You'll need both commercial judgment and a technical grounding in electronics, connectivity, and system-level hardware-software tradeoffs.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience Requirements

5+ years in hardware or consumer electronics product management, including at least 3 years with direct P&L or commercial ownership for a hardware product line.

Job Responsibilities

Portfolio Management & GTM

• Own the connected access hardware portfolio (Smart Video Intercoms, Door Controllers, Smart Readers) across its full lifecycle, from launch through cost-down and end-of-life.

• Own portfolio P&L — cost (BOM/landed cost), pricing, and margin performance in dollars and percent — and report performance against plan.

• Set channel go-to-market strategy across our distribution channels, partnering with Sales and Channel leadership on pricing, positioning, and launch execution.

• Manage weeks-of-supply and demand/supply alignment with sourcing and manufacturing partners.

• Make build-vs-partner recommendations on new hardware capabilities in partnership with Pricing/Partnerships.

New Product Development

• Define and own the multi-year hardware roadmap that powers and extends the cloud-based and mobile software experience.

• Lead the recurring cross-functional sync with software product managers and engineering to ensure firmware timelines never block software feature delivery.

• Lead new hardware development end to end — requirements, business case, and execution with engineering, industrial design, and supply chain.

• Ensure new hardware meets relevant compliance and certification requirements (e.g., UL, FCC) and reliability standards.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years in hardware or consumer electronics product management, including at least 3 years with direct P&L or commercial ownership for a hardware product line.

• Working knowledge of embedded systems, connectivity (BLE/Wi-Fi/cellular), and hardware compliance/certification processes.

• Track record partnering with firmware/software engineering teams to align hardware and software release timelines.

• Experience with channel or distribution go-to-market strategy for hardware products.

• Bonus: background in access control, physical security, or multifamily/PropTech hardware.
