    Position Summary

    The Sr. Grant /Budget Analyst is responsible for the financial management, compliance, and reporting of federal, state, and private grant funds. This position ensures that grant expenditures are allowable, properly recorded, and compliant with sponsor requirements, institutional policies, and applicable regulations.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Manage the financial administration of assigned grants from award setup through closeout
    • Review and monitor grant budgets to ensure compliance with sponsor and institutional guidelines
    • Process and review grant-related expenditures, ensuring allowability, allocability, and reasonableness
    • Prepare and submit financial reports, draw requests, and invoices to grantors in a timely manner
    • Reconcile grant accounts and resolve discrepancies as needed
    • Reviews and signs off on all requisitions for budgetary compliance, including grants
    • Preparation of financial reports, contracts & grants, and other reports as deemed necessary
    • Monitor spending against budget and notify leadership of potential issues or variances
    • Monitor revenues and expenses as dictated by the approved Grant budget
    • Assist with grant audits, monitoring visits, and internal reviews
    • Maintain accurate grant documentation and supporting records
    • Coordinate with program directors, principal investigators, and external agencies
    • Ensure compliance with federal regulations (e.g., Uniform Guidance), state requirements, and grant terms
    • Assist with grant closeout activities, including final financial reporting and reconciliation
    • Support development and improvement of grant accounting policies and procedures

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Strong understanding of grant accounting principles and compliance requirements
    • Knowledge of federal and state grant regulations (e.g., Uniform Guidance, NSF, DOE, state agencies)
    • Proficiency in accounting systems (Ellucian/Colleague or similar)
    • Strong Excel skills and ability to analyze financial data
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Ability to manage multiple grants and deadlines simultaneously
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
    • Master\s degree in related field
    • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in grant accounting or governmental/nonprofit accounting
    • Experience with federal and/or state grants

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in higher education or public sector environment helpful
    • Experience with NSF, DOE, or state education grants
    • Knowledge of Ellucian Colleague or similar ERP systems helpful
