The GRAISE mission is to make the lives of our shoppers, store associates, brands, and banners better and easier through innovative science, hardware, and software solutions that drive revenue and in-store traffic, while reducing cost to serve.

This role owns the supplier and contract-manufacturer relationships behind GRAISE hardware. You will manage strategic component and commodity partners, negotiate and manage complex sourcing deals, own product cost, and source the supply base for new hardware programs from prototype through production. You will be the subject-matter expert on our supply base, working across Engineering, Finance, and Operations to secure supply, reduce cost, and bring new products to market.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Commodity & Supplier Strategy: Own the sourcing strategy and supplier relationships across the GRAISE hardware portfolio - from advanced technologies such as PCBAs, cameras, sensors, and robotic platforms to core electro-mechanical commodities such as displays, speakers, motors, load cells, and cable and charger assemblies. Align supplier capability and roadmaps to product needs, and source and onboard the supply base for new hardware programs from prototype build through production ramp.
    • Strategic Partner & Deal Management: Manage the primary contract-manufacturer relationship and negotiate complex supplier deals and agreements, including non-recurring-engineering (NRE) negotiations, master service agreements, and loaner and legal agreements with new suppliers.
    • Cost Ownership: Own costed BOM and quarterly pricing reviews, evaluate the cost impact of engineering changes, and drive product-cost and purchase-price-variance (PPV) outcomes with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
    • Supplier Onboarding & Purchasing: Own supplier onboarding (NDA, work order, master service agreement, and purchase-order placement) and purchasing administration, and serve as the subject-matter expert who defines and improves these mechanisms for the team.
    • Forecasting & Reporting: Own reporting on supply availability, cost, and sourcing status against plan, and represent supply-base risks and opportunities to senior leadership.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
