Amazon is seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst to drive forecasting and financial controllership for a multi-billion-dollar, double-digit-growth business within our advertising organization. You"ll have direct visibility to senior finance and business leaders, and real influence over the mechanisms used to forecast and shape our business. You"ll work with complex data, solve challenging problems in a fast-paced environment, and proactively improve financial processes while collaborating with cross-functional partners across product, finance, and business teams.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Own end-to-end forecasting processes for Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brands, proactively identifying variance drivers, understanding their implications, and proposing solutions to improve mechanisms and controllership
    • Build and maintain financial models and reports using Cognos and other financial systems, ensuring accuracy through regular audits and diving deep into data discrepancies to identify root causes and implement fixes
    • Conduct complex variance analysis against prior guidance, plan, and prior year results, translating data into clear insights and recommendations for senior finance and business leaders
    • Partner with Central FP&A, Advertising product teams, and business stakeholders to support planning cycles including guidance, Monthly Financial Review, Operating Plan 1, and Operating Plan 2
    • Actively leverage and advance AI integration and automation using Amazon"s plethora of AI tools into our pre-existing processes as we invent new ways to work.
    • Work nimbly with ambiguity to respond to requests from senior leadership with immediate ownership, synthesizing information quickly and communicating findings clearly to drive data-driven decision making

    A day in the life

Your day blends analytical depth with collaborative partnership. You"ll spend time building forecast models, conducting variance analysis to understand performance against prior guidance and plan, and producing reports in Cognos. You"ll sync regularly with business and finance partners to explain drivers and resolve open questions, applying your knowledge of financial processes and controllership. Occasionally, senior leadership will have same-day requests that require you to take immediate ownership, dive deep into the data, and deliver clear recommendations under tight timelines. But regardless of the day, you"ll work on highly collaborative FP&A team that depends on each other to work comprehensively.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
