Job Description:
Location:  This position requires the candidate to work onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in Seattle, WA, and remotely on Mondays and Fridays. 

Role Summary
 As our client’s industry and technology are constantly evolving, we are seeking a proactive collaborator to partner with individuals and teams across the organization – from our enterprise leaders to our site engineers – to formulate strategies & roadmaps that drive business outcomes and capabilities. The role requires influential leadership skills and the ability to work together with teams across the company at all levels of the organization.  We need the right person that can help us safely achieve our growth strategies in wood products manufacturing & operations.  

The ideal candidate is passionate, collaborative, thrives in a team environment, and is committed to lifelong learning. They will play a significant role in the continuous investment in our business sectors and aid in the advancement of enterprise architecture practices.  

Candidates should possess significant domain knowledge, broad technical experience, be able to foster robust relationships with diverse stakeholders, and promote alignment with contemporary data and information – operations technology (IT-OT) methodologies. Outstanding business insight, strategic thought process, knowledge of cross-functional integration, comprehension of the impact of infrastructure on applications, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Must be able to understand the enterprise implications and trade-offs as well as solution-level technology, value and risks.

Requirements: 

  • Formulate strategies, standards, good practices, and guide execution 
  • Formulate, communicate, and uphold architectural strategies and standards in alignment with our growth strategies 
  • Partner with senior leadership to determine and prioritize architectural initiatives 
  • Lead the development of technology strategies, patterns and roadmaps that deliver new and improved business capabilities and outcomes 
  • Evaluate the organization’s current technology portfolio and recommend enhancements and upgrades 
  • Identify and align technology to business outcomes 
  • Facilitate problem solving, solutioning as well as providing an “third-party” perspective to business and IT   
  • Clearly communicate options, trade-off’s, impacts of different scenarios, dependencies and prioritization 
  • Build and maintain relationships 
  • Engage with key vendors and technical communities to stay current and gain outside perspective 
  • Build trust with Business, OT & IT leaders enabling a collaborative atmosphere between technical and non-technical stakeholders 
  • Partner with business subject matter experts, IT solution architects, IT security, OT engineers and others to deliver impactful solutions 
  • Support the convergence of IT-OT by working across process control, engineering and IT 
  • Engage with different business units and departments to comprehend their needs and provide architectural solutions accordingly 
  • Coach and mentor others on client IT processes, architecture skills and strategic approaches 
  • Guide and drive the IT Portfolio 
  • Guide the development and refresh of 5-year technology and investment roadmaps, aligning technology trends, business strategy and other IT and business priorities 
  • Provides guidance and participates in alternative analysis and architecture development 
  • Partner with project team to ensure solutions align to technology strategies and standards and assist with project architecture reviews  
  • Provide strategic counsel for project activities with delivery teams to guide integration efforts 
  • Highlight opportunities for automation, consolidation, and process optimization to minimize costs and improve efficiency, consistency, and quality 
  • Promote and advance innovation 
  • Stay informed of emerging technologies and assess their potential benefits for the company 
  • Facilitate discussions with stakeholders about the potential of technology and applicability to business strategies and objectives 
  • Ensure new technologies adhere to relevant regulations and industry standards 
  • Committed to growing functional and technical skills, in themselves and others, and discovering new ways to deliver business or technical solutions 

Education / Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or related experience is required 

 Must have experience/skills: 

  • Experience as an Architect (solution, enterprise, data, etc.), focusing on applications, data, analytics, integrations, automations, and emerging technology 
  • Over 10 years of experience in relevant IT technology such as ERP (SAP), Supply Chain, Manufacturing Operations Management Solutions, Logistics and Analytics 
  • Good understanding of operational technology and manufacturing systems 
  • Experience with integration patterns and platforms like Boomi and API management 
  • Experience with infrastructure and cloud architecture 
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and concepts such as TOGAF or Zachman 
  • Create the storyline to convey why change is needed and options to reach the desired results. 
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills 
  • Ability to understand customer and partner business needs, lead requirement gathering and analysis, and design solutions that drive business outcomes 
  • Ability to educate stakeholders on complex technology subjects 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to influence, collaborate and manage group dynamics to drive consensus 
  • Ability to promote a collaborative environment, encouraging input from others and respecting others’ opinions 

 Nice to have experience skills:  

  • Operations Technology experience (PLCs, HMIs, IOT, historians, MES, SCADA, etc.) a plus 
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect) preferred 
  • AI/ML experience and certifications 
  • Practical experience with Snowflake, SAP S/4. 
  • Practical experience in Wood Product manufacturing 
  • Experienced in translating business and technology requirements into easy to consume strategies, roadmaps, alternatives, etc.  
  • Familiarity with OT frameworks and standards such as the Purdue model, ISA-95, ISA-112, ISA/IEC 62443  
  • Familiarity with Supply Chain frameworks and processes such as SCOR, S&OP 

Pay Range: $80.00 – $85.00 per hour, depending upon experience.
