SENIOR ENGINEERING TECH - FIELD INSPECTOR (JOB CLASS 1173 - PB 111 - $23.12 TO $28.99)
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to serve as quality control for city projects, inspect all projects, provide technical support for engineering activities, assist, train and supervise field crews, assist drafters, and test materials. This is accomplished by inspecting and surveying, obtaining survey data, reading and understanding construction plans, updating project managers, answering citizen inquiries, observing contractor work, and reporting results. Other duties include assisting survey crews, assisting with testing, completing additional tests, and documenting findings.

Driver's License Required - Y Type - C
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Engineering Strength Certification, Engineering Field Testing Certification, or Radiation Certification License are a plus (Additional incentive pay can be awarded for any of these certifications or licensing.)

1 L Regular and reliable attendance in compliance with given schedules is a mandatory requirement of this position. Schedules may be subject to change with or without advance notice
2 L Completes lab tests of project materials used by retrieving and testing samples, weighing and measuring samples, completing testing processes, reviewing codes and ordinances, verifying project progress, and logging and reporting results.
3 L Inspects sites by ensuring plans are followed, monitoring job progress, interacting with contractors, reporting progress to project managers, and verifying compliance.
4 S Maintains logs, reports and documents by keeping diaries or daily logs, submitting test reports, acceptance sheets, punch lists and as-builts, contacting project management, consultants or contractors for reviews, and adjusting information as required.
5 S Reviews plans, specifications, notes and contracts by checking plans for conformance to construction, ensuring contractors are adhering to plans, studying for project dates and completion, figuring quantities, and reporting findings.
Experience-Related Requirements Over one year and up to and including two years.
Vocational/ Educational Preparation Requires Associate's degree, vocational technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education.
ENGINEERING TECH - FIELD INSPECTOR (JOB CLASS 1120 - PB 110 $22.01 TO $24.21)
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to provide technical support for engineering activities, inspect city projects and subdivisions and assist the public. This is accomplished by performing construction inspection, material testing, obtaining survey data and assisting the public with requests. Other duties include maintaining and calibrating equipment, daily inspection logs, completing reports, reading and interpreting plans and updating project managers.

2 M Inspect construction sites to ensure that work is according to plans and specifications. Inspect street, drainage and utility installations, verify grades, flow lines, take samples and perform required material testing. Maintain daily log, project documentation and report progress to project manager.
3 M Perform lab tests of soils, concrete, and asphalt by retrieving and testing samples, weighing and measuring samples, completing testing processes, reviewing codes and ordinances, verifying project progress, and logging and reporting results. Duties require appropriate material testing certification.
4 L Perform additional duties as required to provide technical support to the Engineering Division.
5 L Maintain lab and supplies while ensuring health standards are followed, completing leak tests, scheduling calibrations, participating in inspections, and corresponding with safety officials.
Experience-Related Requirements Over one year and up to and including two years.
Vocational/ Educational Preparation Requires High school graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college
