Sr. Engineering Project Manager, Anode Mixing

Tesla's Cell Manufacturing Engineering group is looking for a highly motivated Engineering Project Manager to lead large capital projects from concept to execution. The role requires a highly organized individual that can synthesize complex, ambiguous requirements into scope/inputs for manufacturing equipment design and factory requirements by implementing front-end engineering design methodologies.

As an Engineering Project Manager, you will join a cross-functional project engineering team responsible for the technical deliverables, schedule, budget, work packages, interface management, project risk mitigation, equipment design, and contractor scopes for all aspects of engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning.

• This role will develop, scale-up, and optimize battery manufacturing equipment, focused heavily on Dry Battery Electrode Mixing equipment deployment at multiple sites
• Responsible for leading the full design and engineering of Tesla equipment and factory design from concept to production launch
• Responsible for defining and managing Project Level scope, strategy, priorities, and drive decision making for large CAPEX projects
• Develops engineering project plans and secures leadership alignment
• Develops and interfaces with internal and external engineering teams, manages 3rd party vendor contracts and budgets
• Owns Front-End-Engineering process for large capital projects from preliminary/concept design through detailed design and construction. Including scope definition, interface management, change management, and cost control
• Leads design reviews and manages cross-functional action items through completion
• Develops project schedules, budgets, project communications, and leadership reporting
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience managing large capital projects
• Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams within Architectural/Engineering firms or design-build firms
• Experience leading engineering teams for large brown-field and green-field manufacturing projects with EPCs firms or in-house design teams
• Full understanding of all engineering disciplines and ability to demonstrate skills to manage engineering resources
• Proven record in delivery of IFB, IFP and IFC packages
• Experience designing manufacturing processes or equipment in healthcare, laboratory, mission critical, and site infrastructure development project types
• Excellent communication skills with ability to understand complex topics/ problems and distill the message clearly
• Pre-Construction Project Management experience is a plus
• Auto-CAD, Revit, or Bluebeam 2D Drawings experience is a plus
