    Sr. Engineer, Hardware Systems Automation

    Location:  San Jose, CA

    Ayar Labs is seeking a Hardware Systems Engineer to help us revolutionize photonic interconnects for high performance computing. The exceptional candidate will be highly motivated and energetic, ready to perform hands-on work in the lab as well as develop python scripts for automating measurements. This role will be responsible for automating electronics test hardware and simulation tools to increase workflow efficiency. The engineer will be working with lab equipment such as VNAs, Spectrum Analyzers and Signal Generators. Simulation and measurement will be performed on HDBU substrates as well as PCBs.
    The candidate does not need prior experience in photonics but should display the propensity to learn and grow. Ayar Labs is a highly collaborative environment; the successful candidate will be organized and communicative. The engineer will have the opportunity to learn from industry experts on signal and power integrity.


    Essential Functions
    Develop tooling in Python to support hardware verification and enhance lab automation.
    Develop tooling in Python to support Signal and Power integrity simulation automation.
    Interface with and automate hardware test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, DAQs, and power supplies.
    Perform Signal and Power Integrity measurements on PCB, die, and substrates
    Perform Signal and Power Integrity simulations in Keysight ADS and Ansys HFSS

    Basic Qualifications
    Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus 4 years industry experience
    Strong fundamental background in EM
    Strong familiarity with lab equipment such as: Oscilloscope, VNA, Signal Analyzer, Signal Generator
    Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python 

    Preferred Qualifications
    Experience performing Signal Integrity simulations using tools from Ansys, Cadence or Keysight
    Experience automating workflows for Signal Integrity simulations
    Experience in automating hardware lab equipment using SCPI
    Experience using high-speed probing equipment to measure PCB or HDBU Substrate
