Job Title: Sr. Embedded Software Test Engineer

Duration: 6 Months (Contract)

Location: San Jose, CA (5900 Optical Ct.) - 100% Onsite (Monday-Friday)

Required Pay Scale: $70/hr on W2

Job Summary: We are seeking a Sr. Embedded Software Test Engineer to develop and execute comprehensive test plans and strategies for embedded software, firmware, and hardware-integrated products. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with system-level verification, manual and automated testing, defect investigation, and root cause analysis.

In this role, you will collaborate with engineering, quality, and cross-functional teams to validate product performance, improve product quality, and ensure reliable software and hardware functionality. You will also prepare detailed test reports, document test results, and support verification activities throughout the product lifecycle.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday | 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Project Details:

• Develop detailed test plans, test cases, and test protocols from product requirements.
• Perform manual and automated testing of embedded software, firmware, and hardware-integrated systems.
• Execute system-level verification and validation activities.
• Investigate defects, perform root cause analysis, and verify corrective actions.
• Utilize command-line tools, log analysis, and hardware debugging techniques to troubleshoot issues.
• Prepare comprehensive test reports documenting execution results, defects, trends, and verification outcomes.
• Partner with engineering and quality teams to improve testing processes and product reliability.
• Work independently while contributing to cross-functional project teams.

Must Haves

• 2-5 years of experience creating test plans, test cases, and test protocols from system requirements.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience performing manual and automated testing of embedded software, firmware, and hardware systems.
• Experience troubleshooting defects, performing root cause analysis, and validating fixes.
• Strong understanding of embedded systems testing and system-level verification.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

Desired Skills

• Experience using command-line tools for testing and debugging.
• Working knowledge of C++ and/or C#.
• Experience testing FDA-regulated medical devices or similar regulated products.
• Familiarity with 510(k) regulatory submissions and product verification documentation.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
