Sr. Electronics Technician

GovFirst is seeking a skilled and safety -focused<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>Sr. Electronics Technician<\/span><\/span><\/b> to support electronic infrastructure in the Hampton, VA area. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing devices, traffic control systems, and communication networks while ensuring reliable operation of transportation -related electronic equipment.

Responsibilities:
<\/span><\/span><\/h3>

• Install, repair, maintain, program, and modify devices and equipment associated with traffic control systems.
  <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

• Work with traffic signal controllers, fiber optic systems, wireless communications, twisted pair systems, and IP over Ethernet communication technologies and networks.
  <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

• Maintain and troubleshoot transportation -related communication, video, and network equipment.
  <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

• Perform preventative maintenance on dynamic/changeable message signs, closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras, pan -tilt -zoom (PTZ) devices, encoders, decoders, Ethernet switches, PLCs, and other related equipment.
  <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

• Apply principles of electronic theory to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
  <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

• Assist Traffic System Technicians and Traffic Signal Technicians as required.
  <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

• Read and interpret plans, schematics, technical drawings, and system displays.
  <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

• Troubleshoot and locate defective devices and perform repairs.
  <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

• Use electronic test equipment, fiber optic testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively.
  <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

• Operate personal computers and related software applications.
  <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

• Climb communication towers to repair cameras and communication equipment when required.
  <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

• Operate a variety of vehicles and equipment, including platform and bucket trucks.
  <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/li>

• Respond to emergency call -backs during scheduled off -hours as needed.<\/span><\/span>

  Requirements<\/h3>

  Required Skills & Experience:<\/span><\/span><\/b>
  <\/span><\/span>

  • Three to five years of experience in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electronic and communication systems required.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Strong understanding of electronic theory.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Ability to read and interpret technical plans, schematics, and displays.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Experience using electronic testing equipment and fiber optic testing equipment.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.<\/span>

    • High School Diploma or GED required. (Degree in engineering may be preferred)<\/span><\/span><\/li><\/ul>
