  • This role is ideal for a hands-on, systems-oriented engineer who is comfortable operating in both mechanical and electrical domains. You will design robust mechanical systems while integrating power distribution, wiring, and high-voltage components into complex semiconductor test equipment.
  • You are a mechanical engineer who thrives in electrical/power environments, with the ability to bridge disciplines and drive integrated solutions. You bring strong ownership, curiosity, and execution skills, and are comfortable collaborating across engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • You will take ownership from concept through production, working cross-functionally with electrical, systems, and manufacturing engineers to deliver high-performance, reliable hardware.
  • This is an on-site role with an expectation to be in the office at least 4 days per week to support hands-on development, cross-functional collaboration, and system bring-up.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design and development of electro-mechanical subsystems for semiconductor test equipment
  • Translate product requirements into robust mechanical designs with integrated power and electrical infrastructure
  • Collaborate closely with electrical engineers on:
  • System-level and board-level power distribution
  • Cabling, harnessing, grounding, and component integration
  • Design and package electrical components (breakers, contactors, relays, PLCs, etc.) within mechanical architectures
  • Develop specifications, validation plans, and test strategies
  • Perform DFM/DFA and coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing partners
  • Create detailed CAD models, drawings, and BOMs
  • Build, test, and debug prototypes owning issues through resolution
  • Present design concepts and tradeoffs to cross-functional and remote teams

Must Have:
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
  • 8+ years of experience in electro-mechanical system design
  • Strong mechanical design experience across:
  • Sheet metal, machined parts, plastics
  • Structural and thermal considerations
  • CAD tools such as SolidWorks (or similar) + PDM
  • Practical experience integrating electrical/power systems into mechanical designs, including:
  • Power distribution (system and board-level)
  • Cable/harness design and routing
  • High-voltage or 3-phase systems (e.g., 208V)
  • Familiarity with electrical hardware and infrastructure:
  • Breakers, relays, contactors, PLCs
  • Knowledge of relevant safety and compliance standards (NFPA, SEMI, IEC/UL)
  • Experience with prototype build, test, and debug

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with semiconductor test equipment, package handlers, or wafer probers
  • Knowledge of switchgear and power distribution architecture
  • Familiarity with EMI/EMC, grounding, and system-level power integrity
  • Experience with FEA (stress/strain analysis)
  • Strong system-level thinking across mechanical, electrical, and thermal domains
