JOB TITLE: Sr. Electrical Superintendent – Night Shift Lead
LOCATION: Austin, TX
PAY RANGE: $60-$70hr
DURATION: 6-month contract to hirePOSITION SUMMARY:
The Sr. Electrical Superintendent – Night Shift Lead will work closely with Project Management, Infrastructure Engineering, Project Controls, and Procurement from installation through start of production. This role owns all on-site electrical construction on the night shift, including trade-contractor scheduling, utility interconnections, medium-voltage systems, substation work, and vendor tool setups. You will enforce electrical plans, specifications, and national/local codes while protecting schedule, budget, safety, and quality on complex industrial work. This is a hands-on night-shift leadership role for someone with deep medium-voltage experience and a proven record running electrical crews after hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Lead night-shift electrical construction from execution planning through installation, testing, and turnover.
- Develop and drive detailed execution plans and schedules for electrical work, including medium-voltage systems (5kV–35kV) and substation construction.
- Coordinate and supervise on-site electrical activities, managing electricians, subcontractors, and vendors across the night shift.
- Own the night-shift electrical schedule: identify issues early, resolve them in the field, and escalate to day-shift leadership when needed.
- Hand off cleanly to day shift — status, open issues, safety items, material needs, and next-shift priorities.
- Enforce OSHA, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout, and site electrical safety standards so the night shift stays safe, secure, and productive.
- Schedule and lead quality-control inspections of electrical systems against design, NEC, IEEE, ANSI, and local codes.
- Oversee medium-voltage installation, termination, testing, and commissioning; support substation work and utility/facility integration.
- Work with tool vendors and equipment suppliers to complete electrical hookups and close technical issues on shift.
- Track and receive critical material (transformers, switchgear, cabling, etc.), resolve discrepancies, and keep night-shift work supplied.
QUALIFICATIONS:- 10+ years of electrical construction experience, including substantial time as an Electrical Superintendent, night-shift lead, or equivalent supervisor on industrial facilities, brownfield work, substations, or electrical upgrades.
- Proven medium-voltage expertise (5kV–35kV): installation, testing, maintenance, switching, and commissioning.
- Direct experience with substation construction, utility interconnection, and integration into plant electrical infrastructure.
- In-depth knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NESC, NFPA 70E, and local AHJ requirements.
- Strong record leading electricians and trade contractors to hit milestones, quality targets, and safety expectations — including night-shift or off-hours crews.
- Ability to operate in a high-performance, cross-functional environment with tight timelines and aggressive goals.
- Design-build experience and the ability to give constructability feedback during design and execution.
- Ability to read and troubleshoot from one-lines, schematics, layouts, and related construction documents.
- Familiarity with environmental and site constraints that affect electrical work (substations, underground cabling, etc.).
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Office, email, and scheduling tools (Primavera P6 or MS Project), with the discipline to keep night-shift documentation, RFIs, and turnover notes current.
SCHEDULE:- Night shift. This role is the electrical lead on site during night operations and is expected to coordinate closely with day-shift superintendents and project leadership.
