This role works within a multi-disciplinary validation infrastructure team delivering electrical engineering designs of various test infrastructure form factors ranging between PBCA and large scale custom hardware-in-the-loop platforms. This engineer will support vehicle engineering and firmware organizations and should be capable of translating high level validation requirements into hardware solutions to satisfy these requirements. It is the expectation of this role that the engineer has sufficient knowledge to independently develop solutions, advise technicians or suppliers through the build, and assist in bring-up and troubleshooting efforts.

  • Design and produce electrical schematics for hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure used in component level testing of vehicle controllers
  • Design, layout, and route custom PCBA for mixed signal, high channel count microcontroller level validation
  • Provide the design and engineering support layer between our end users executing testing, and our internal technician team that will fabricate your designs for them
  • Assist in PCBA and HIL infrastructure bring-up, debug, and deploy processes
  • Coordinate with integration and component test engineers to develop high level requirements for new future validation technologies
  • Work collaboratively with cross-organizational teams to improve overall reliability test infrastructure
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency with PCBA schematics and datasheets, placing for low parasitic capacitance, inductance, and PCB layout techniques for power electronic circuits and mixed small signal circuits
  • Proficiency in the design of printed circuit boards using fine pitch and ball grid array integrated circuits and large through hole parts
  • Experience with PCB fabrication, design for manufacturing techniques for high volume designs
  • Familiarity with taking PCB layout through to completion of board files, generation of BOMs, and upload to PLM. Familiarity with PC track widths and copper weights needed when considering current and temperature of operation of the PCB
  • Hardware Domain: Working knowledge of data acquisition, DC circuits and basic signal conditioning, power distribution, and mixed-signal types
  • Software Domain: Basic literacy in Python and debugging. Exposure to embedded linux on ARM architecture
