Location: Katy, TX Type of Position:Direct Hire
Responsibilities:
Design and support electrical systems for microturbine-based power generation packages and high-efficiency distributed energy systems.
Develop and lead electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts, managing complex electrical design initiatives with minimal supervision.
Serve as a subject-matter expert and escalation point for electrical system issues, providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level electrical engineers.
Collaborate with mechanical and controls engineers to optimize system integration.
Oversee compliance with electrical codes and safety standards (NEC, UL, CE, etc.).
Participate in build reviews, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and commissioning of packaged systems.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in electrical engineering (required); Masters preferred
5+ years in power generation, turbine systems, or industrial equipment
Hands-on experience with packaging electrical systems and integration
Familiarity with rotating equipment, switchgear, PLCs, and protection systems
Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards (NEC, UL, ISO)
Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, and Microsoft Office
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
Excellent documentation and verbal communication
Ability to manage multiple technical projects simultaneously
Additional Technical Requirements
Familiarity with applicable electrical and industrial standards, including UL 508A, IEC 61439, and NFPA 79
Soliday understanding of power inverter systems, including Active Front End (AFE) design and related parametric and safety configurations
Experience designing or supporting electrical systems for grid-connected and standalone (island mode) operations
Preferred qualifications include:
Experience with microturbine technologies or gas turbine controls
Electrical PE license or progress toward licensure
Familiarity with grid interconnect standards and hybrid energy systems
Working knowledge of international compliance and export control (e.g., CE, RoHS)
Experience with Danfoss, ABB, or similar industrial variable-frequency drives
Experience with grid-parallel and island mode configurations utilizing direct-drive systems
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
Primarily office-based with routine visits to the shop floor, test area, and customer sites
Ability to stand, walk, or lift/move components (up to 25 lbs) during inspections
Close vision and focus required for drawings, prototypes, and safety reviews
Some off-hours or weekend work may be required for testing or commissioning
