POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Electronics Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of advanced power conversion systems and related subsystems. This position plays a critical role in the full product lifecycle, from concept and architecture through qualification, production release, and sustaining engineering. The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise in power electronics with strong problem-solving and leadership skills to deliver innovative, high-reliability solutions for mission-critical applications.

Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, this individual will drive technical decisions, mentor engineers, and collaborate across hardware, firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality organizations to achieve performance, cost, schedule, and quality objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop, and validate advanced power electronic systems, including analog, digital, mixed-signal, control, RF, and high-power circuitry.
  • Own product and subsystem development from requirements definition through production release and ongoing support.
  • Develop schematics, support PCB layout activities, and guide prototype build and integration efforts.
  • Perform detailed circuit analysis, simulation, system characterization, and root-cause investigations to ensure robust and reliable designs.
  • Design and execute laboratory experiments, analyze results, and validate compliance with functional, safety, regulatory, and customer requirements.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues encountered during development, manufacturing, qualification, and customer operation.
  • Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and field teams to optimize performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Develop automated test solutions and engineering tools using Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar technologies.
  • Generate and maintain engineering documentation, including specifications, design reviews, test reports, and engineering change orders.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and design reviews for engineers across the organization.
  • Present technical findings, recommendations, and program status to engineering leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, development efficiency, and engineering best practices.

  • Up to 10% domestic and international travel

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Strong foundation in electrical engineering, with emphasis on power electronics, circuit design, control systems, and system integration.
  • Proficiency with laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and electronic loads.
  • Experience with electronic design and simulation tools such as Cadence, Altium Designer, LTspice, PSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex technical challenges and drive projects to completion.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working cross-functionally within product development organizations.

Preferred

  • Experience with high-voltage power conversion and designing AC-DC, DC-DC, RF power, plasma power, or other high-performance power conversion systems.
  • Experience with magnetics design.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems, digital control, FPGA, or DSP-based control architectures.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and safety requirements for power electronics products.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Reliability (DFR), and Design for Testability (DFT).
  • Prior experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of industry experience in electronic design, power electronics, or related engineering disciplines.
  • Demonstrated history of technical ownership, successful product development, and delivery of complex engineering solutions.
  • Experience leading subsystem or product-level development efforts is highly desirable.

COMPENSATION:

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $95,000 to $145,000 per year.
