LOCATION: 2 openings. 1 will require some travel to West Texas. Location for both roles is preferred to be Austin, NYC, SF, or Seattle. But open to considering remote candidates.
DURATION: 8+ month long contract, high chance to extend
RATE RANGE: Pay rate - Market rate, target $100-135/hr

POSITION SUMMARY:

Engineers at Fluidstack work to design resilient, cost-effective electrical distribution systems that power our global GPU cloud infrastructure. We are responsible for achieving world-class uptime for our AI and HPC customers who depend on us for their most demanding workloads. We justify and communicate technical decisions to senior leadership and continuously drive advancements in our data center designs. We are looking for engineers with hands-on electrical design experience. If you can design an electrical system, understand the critical equipment needs for a high-density GPU data center, and grasp the constructibility of varying designs, you may be a great fit. As we scale rapidly, we are building our team to own more engineering in-house. Engineers will be responsible for taking designs from concept through permit and construction document sets.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
" Design and develop electrical systems for Fluidstack's high-density GPU data centers, collaborating across disciplines to produce complete construction document sets. " Deliver designs that meet rigorous quality standards while staying aligned with project budgets and timelines. " Define critical equipment specifications and approve equipment submittals. " Partner with commissioning teams to thoroughly test, validate, and document the installation and performance of electrical systems before handoff. " Manage multiple concurrent projects across Fluidstack's growing footprint, balancing priorities across different regions and time zones. " Travel to project sites as needed to conduct field reviews, support onsite engineers, perform electrical system audits, and assist with startup activities. " Bring creativity and a problem-solving mindset to every project.

Required Qualifications
" Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
" Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
" 5+ years of hands-on design experience experience in data center electrical design or other mission-critical facilities, with exposure to the full power distribution chain from utility feed through rack-level delivery..
" Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission-critical facilities, especially data centers.
" Solid understanding of major data center electrical topologies (2N, N+1, catcher bus, distributed-redundant) and the ability to articulate the trade-offs between them.

Nice To Haves
" Experience with high-density compute environments (AI/ML, HPC) and the unique electrical demands of GPU-heavy workloads.
" Prior experience at a hyperscale operator (AWS, Google, Meta, Microsoft) or major mission-critical design firm designing for hyperscale environments.
" Familiarity with EPMS/Client integration, liquid cooling electrical distribution, and ASHRAE TC 9.9 thermal guidelines.
" Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred, or ability to obtain within 18 months.
" Proficiency with tools such as Revit MEP, AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, SKM PowerTools, and/or Bluebeam Revu.
" Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
" Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems.
" Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.

BENEFITS SUMMARY: Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate or annual salary only, unless otherwise stated. In addition to base compensation, full-time roles are eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Commuter and 401K benefits with company matching.
