Overview:
CBS Sports is seeking a skilled, creative and highly organized Senior Editor to lead key aspects of its NFL coverage across CBSSports.com and CBS Sports platforms.The Senior Editor will play a central leadership role within the NFL editorial team, helping set the coverage strategy and oversee its execution across breaking news, live games, analysis, features, rankings, previews, reactions and enterprise storytelling. This role requires more than strong editing skills: We are looking for an ambitious editorial leader who can establish a clear vision, generate distinctive coverage ideas, manage and develop writers, and bring structure and accountability to a fast-moving newsroom operation. The NFL Draft will receive special attention in this role.
The ideal candidate has exceptional news judgment, deep NFL knowledge and a proven ability to make confident editorial decisions under pressure. This person should be equally comfortable directing coverage during a major breaking-news event, developing an ambitious long-term editorial franchise and coaching an individual writer toward stronger work. The Senior Editor will directly manage a team of writers, with responsibility for setting expectations, assigning coverage, providing regular feedback and supporting each employee's professional development. They will also help establish team priorities, evaluate performance and foster a collaborative, creative and accountable culture. This position is based in New York and requires schedule flexibility, including nights, weekends and holidays as NFL games, news cycles and editorial needs warrant.

Hiring Salary Range: $85,600.00 - 107,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
