The Sr Director of Outside Plant Engineering is responsible for Verizon’s dark fiber access programs for the West area markets. This includes leading fiber engineering and construction teams to optimize access networks in an effort to support the build out of new routes for hyperscaler customer capabilities. The team will include Project Engineers to design, construct, test, configure, and install fiber plant to grow the access network.
What'll be doing:
Effectively manage vendors to build quality fiber networks with expectations of time and delivery
Developing organizational capabilities to anticipate, plan, and execute on a large portfolio of projects while meeting schedule, cost, scope, and performance objectives.
Effectively managing annual capital portfolio and expense budget responsibility while bringing projects to completion on-time and on-budget.
Participating in the review and providing input as appropriate to update engineering and implementation processes and standards.
Leading projects for new and often complex technologies and providing design and engineering support when needed.
Building strong relationships with municipal agencies and facility owners to ensure the highest level of success in all right of way and attachment efforts.
Partnering with respective teams to mitigate complex right of way disputes.
Managing and scheduling multiple projects with highly aggressive timelines while balancing workload of engineers across a large team.
Monitoring defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and implementing action plans when metrics fall below agreed KPIs, especially engineering, construction and installation intervals as well as financial metrics and customer commitments.
What you'll need to have:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience required; Master's Degree preferred
10+ years of experience in the telecommunications industry, and outside or inside plant experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant management/supervisory experience
Proven leadership and project management skills
Strong analytical, strategic, and critical thinking skills
Proven skill of interacting and negotiating with carriers and partners on business model and technical specifications
Strong technical knowledge of Verizon network capabilities, products, services as well as the associated processes
Ability to maintain strong relations with cross-functional teams, regional Field teams
Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate employees with highly diverse skill sets and work experience
Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and produce quality results managing multiple complex projects in a fast-paced, high-pressure, and dynamic work environment
Location: Flexible to any network hub (West of the Mississippi)

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $167,500.00 - $321,000.00.
The annual salary range for the Colorado location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $167,500.00 - $292,000.00.
