An established and rapidly growing telecommunications organization is seeking an accomplished and experienced operations leader to fill the role of Sr. Director of PMO. This organization is focused on scaling fiber broadband infrastructure and expanding residential, small business (SMB), and multi-dwelling unit (MDU) services across multiple regions.
The Sr. Director of PMO is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of projects aligned with strategic objectives. The PMO serves as the central hub for driving critical initiatives while providing project management support across the organization.
This role will have direct oversight of Enterprise, Construction, and IT project management functions and will collaborate closely with network development teams to ensure end-to-end project support and a strong market expansion pipeline. The position also requires regular executive reporting on major initiatives, milestones, and operational progress.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Recruit, hire, train, and manage program and project management teams overseeing strategic initiatives.
- Build and lead an Enterprise PMO that supports organization-wide and departmental projects.
- Develop and oversee a Construction PMO responsible for all aspects of fiber deployment, from planning through design, permitting, construction, go-live, and closeout, including budget tracking.
- Establish and lead an IT PMO responsible for delivering mission-critical systems from inception through implementation and ongoing evolution.
- Partner with network planning teams to maintain a strong pipeline of market opportunities aligned with annual growth objectives.
- Prepare and present market-level plans and project updates for executive review and approval.
- Lead recurring PMO meetings to provide updates, drive accountability, and resolve roadblocks.
- Provide leadership and direction to PMO staff, fostering a culture of urgency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with department leaders to prioritize projects based on strategic goals and resource availability.
- Drive alignment and partnership across business units and stakeholders.
- Establish and enforce standardized project management methodologies, tools, and governance frameworks.
- Evaluate and implement tools to enhance project management capabilities.
- Identify and manage resource requirements across projects to ensure efficient utilization.
- Oversee project execution to ensure delivery within scope, schedule, and budget.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure PMO effectiveness.
- Facilitate project meetings, status reporting, and stakeholder communications.
- Identify risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
- Prepare clear and concise executive summaries on project and team performance.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Telecommunications, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of project management experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role within telecommunications or infrastructure.
- PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification preferred.
- Demonstrated success managing large-scale, cross-functional programs (e.g., IT, construction, engineering).
- Strong knowledge of fiber telecommunications technologies and industry practices.
- Proven leadership ability to build, develop, and manage high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Wrike, Sitetracker, Trello).
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer
- Ability to perform physical activities such as walking, standing, bending, and climbing in construction environments
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds as needed
- Travel required for regional coordination, site visits, and stakeholder meetings
- Occasional work outside standard business hours to support critical initiatives
