POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Director, Growth Strategy/Chief of Staff is a key partner to the Chief Marketing and Growth Officer, responsible for managing the team's strategic planning and execution process to ensure the entire work of the team is aligned with BMCHS strategic goals. This individual will contribute to the attainment of the organization's desired growth and overarching objectives by providing strategic guidance to leadership surrounding industry dynamics, corporate strategy and the identification of non-organic and expansion opportunities. Reporting to the Chief Marketing and Growth Officer, this seasoned advisor will serve as an integral member of the team; the ideal candidate will possess extensive healthcare knowledge, and a track record of building and maintaining positive internal and external working relationships.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Strategic Planning and Strategy Development
Advise and support the development and articulation of our Community Relations, Development and Marketing/Communications long-term strategies
Provide oversight or manage key strategic projects related to growth as needed
Identify key emerging trends impacting our environment and strategic opportunities
Monitor competitive landscape to identify emerging areas of opportunity and potential risks
Lead team in the creation of comprehensive presentation materials which clearly communicate financial analysis, incorporate strategic perspective, and coherently drive toward a recommendation / conclusion
Perform ad hoc strategic analysis to support executive decision making
Align work of Marketing & Growth team with organizational priorities to strategically guide and amplify thought leadership
Chief of Staff
Provide advisory, operational and analytic support to the Chief Marketing & Growth Officer; staying apprised of the work across Boston Medical Center Health System with key stakeholder and ensuring departmental involvement, when needed
Work with the Chief Marketing & Growth Officer and other key stakeholders, providing day-to-day oversight of a portfolio of organizational, strategic, operational and administrative activities
Serve as a Proxy for the Chief Marketing & Growth Officer in meetings with key stakeholders and departments across Boston Medical Center Health System
Collaborate with Marketing & Growth leadership to develop long and short-term objectives, consistent with the philosophy and mission of the organization
Maintain and support the Chief Marketing & Growth Officer on the work associated with the BMCHS Strategic Plan
Develop improvement initiatives and operational plans to optimize departmental resources
Facilitate the annual planning and goal setting process
Facilitate the process of project solicitation, selection, prioritization, implementation, and monitoring
Provide ad-hoc analysis and decision support
Ensure/prepare agendas, memos, correspondence and briefing materials for key meetings, and ensure that appropriate follow-up actions are taken
Tracking and Management Performance
In concert with the Strategic Planning Project Management function, maintain an overview of initiatives across the organization to identify synergies, opportunities and overload
Responsible for monitoring progress of strategic initiatives and reporting status to senior management. Identify roadblocks and escalate issues as needed. Project financial impact of initiatives and track progress post implementation
Develop infrastructure and monitoring tools to track progress against goals and key performance indicators
Prepare reports, briefings and presentations on related issues for a variety of audiences, including senior management and the Board of Directors
Other
Manage and lead a high-performing team, including supervising a direct report across the Marketing & Growth sub-teams; monitor, analyze, and improve team performance; provide expertise, coaching, and development to team members and drive thought leadership
Maintain and build effective working relationships with other departments and functions within the organization
As an "affiliate" of the Strategy team, manage any strategy team resources allocated to support Marketing & Growth projects
Participate in improving organizational performance by recommending areas or approaches for improvement initiatives or activities, performing new procedures, collecting data and providing input to department discussions. Proactively recommend and develop processes and methodologies to improve business processes
Build/maintain working knowledge of health care market, trends, industry standard methods and other tools relevant to planning and development expertise.

EDUCATION:
B.A. or B.S. from four-year college or university, plus M.B.A, MPH or other advanced degree preferred

Compensation Range:
$175,500.00- $254,500.00
This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
