Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Wireless Systems Software team. In this role, you will own the build, integration, and release processes for the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) software across Tesla Vehicles and Robotics platforms. You will be responsible for integrating the software stack for wireless chipsets into Tesla's Linux-based OS, maintaining robust CI/CD infrastructure, and ensuring secure, timely, and high-quality deliveries of connectivity software. This position requires strong ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight release cadences.

  • Maintain and continuously improve the Yocto-based build and release infrastructure supporting connectivity services across vehicles and robotics platforms
  • Develop and deploy AI-agentized workflows for TCU build and release processes
  • Integrate vendor releases into Tesla's Linux-based TCU OS and manage multi-platform release cadence for both debug and release-scope builds
  • Own release signing processes, and compliance/security requirements for wireless components
  • Debug and resolve build breakages, optimize build times, and improve overall release reliability and velocity
  • Manage integrations of internal tools, including AI development bots, with the Git infrastructure using Plumbing & Porcelain concepts
  • Maintain high availability build environments using Docker and Kubernetes on build servers
  • Collaborate closely with wireless software, QA, hardware, and factory firmware teams to support integration, validation, and fleet-wide rollout of connectivity features
  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with Yocto, including recipe development, sstate cache management, Buildroot, Bazel, and large-scale build optimization (ccache, parallelization)
  • Strong scripting experience in Python and Bash
  • Experience with Jenkins & Groovy for build automation and CI/CD pipeline management
  • Hands-on experience maintaining high availability build farms using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Proven track record of optimizing Yocto builds and reducing end-to-end build/release times in large-scale environments
  • Hands-on experience with code signing, secure boot, and cryptographic key management for embedded devices is a plus
  • Experience with distributed systems and real-time data technologies such as RabbitMQ and Redis is a plus
  • Familiarity with Golang, or Ruby for tooling and automation is a plus
  • Experience with Linux systems, embedded systems, and wireless/connectivity technologies is a strong plus

Expected Compensation

  • Software Development Engineer - $140,000 - $210,000/annual salary

  • Sr Software Development Engineer - $168,000 - $252,000/annual salary

  • Staff Software Development Engineer - $200,000 - $300,000/annual salary
