Design What the World Sees
About the Opportunity
Enclos is seeking a Senior Designer who combines curtainwall expertise, technical precision, creative problem-solving, and confident client leadership. In this role, you will guide design development from early sales and design-assist conversations through post-sale execution, translating complex architectural ideas into buildable custom façade solutions.
You will create and coordinate detailed 2D and 3D design packages, collaborate with architects, owners, consultants, general contractors, vendors, and internal teams, and take ownership of design decisions while integrating feedback from stakeholders with differing priorities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide design review and input to the sales team for projects partnered through vendors.
- Primarily use AutoCAD to create shop drawing packages, including elevations, plans, sections, and details for custom systems.
- Translate 2D details into 3D Rhino models for conceptual review and rendering.
- Support the development and maintenance of standard systems.
- Research industry developments, attend showings, and consult with engineering, marketing, production, and sales representatives to establish design concepts.
- Evaluate design ideas for safety, efficiency, appearance, design-function relationships, serviceability, sustainability, materials and methods, application, budget, pricing, production costs, manufacturing methods, market characteristics, and client specifications.
- Integrate research, concepts, and sketches into cohesive design solutions.
- Prepare or coordinate working drawings, 3D models, and renderings from sketches and design specifications.
- Present designs to clients and management, discuss proposed modifications, and guide design changes.
- Participate in sales meetings with architects, owners, and consultants.
- Collaborate with architects, owners, consultants, and sales teams to develop solutions that meet client needs and Enclos requirements and standards.
- Lead and coordinate post-sale design development activities as a key member of the design team.
- Apply knowledge of vendor processes and prescribe fabrication techniques when needed.
- Review project specifications, identify potential issues, and coordinate review with sales and operations teams.
Qualifications
- Four to eight years of combined education and experience in the design, engineering, fabrication, and/or installation of curtainwall systems.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to apply probability and statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and interpret technical instructions presented in mathematical or diagram form.
- Commitment to staying current with technology through active participation, continuing education, and conferences.
Technical Skills
- Required: Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D modeling in Rhino, plus working knowledge of Grasshopper.
- Preferred working knowledge: Revit, Inventor, Navisworks, and Tekla.
- Business applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is helpful.
Client Leadership and Communication
This is a client-facing position. The Senior Designer must be comfortable presenting to large groups and discussing Enclos designs with consultants, architects, general contractors, and internal stakeholders. The successful candidate will take ownership of design decisions while remaining open to suggestions and consolidating feedback from parties with different priorities and perspectives.
Travel
Travel is required as project needs dictate, including client sales meetings, internal review meetings, and design-assist meetings. Travel fluctuates with project schedules, but candidates should be willing to travel approximately two to three days per month.
