    Description

    IDR is seeking a Sr DB2 Performance Engineer to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in Malvern, PA. In this role, you will focus on hands-on DB2 performance tuning for high-volume, mission-critical applications within a fast-paced, highly regulated industry. Youll collaborate with globally distributed engineering teams to identify bottlenecks, optimize SQL and stored procedures, and help prepare the organization for future cloud migration initiatives.

    Position Overview for the Sr DB2 Performance Engineer :

    • Drive hands-on DB2 performance optimization for high-concurrency OLTP applications, focusing on throughput, stability, and latency reduction.
    • Analyze SQL execution plans, tune queries, and improve stored procedures to resolve complex performance bottlenecks.
    • Leverage load-testing results (e.g., JMeter or similar tools) to identify root causes and validate performance improvements across environments.
    • Partner closely with application developers, architects, and infrastructure teams to implement scalable performance enhancements.
    • Contribute to modernization efforts, applying performance best practices to support future cloud-managed relational database platforms.

    Requirements for the Sr DB2 Performance Engineer :

    • Extensive hands-on experience with DB2 performance tuning (beyond traditional DBA administration) in high-volume environments
    • Advanced SQL optimization skills, including execution plan analysis and stored procedure performance tuning
    • Proven experience supporting high-concurrency OLTP systems, ideally within the financial services industry
    • Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot performance issues using load-testing tools such as JMeter (or similar)
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional, globally distributed teams (follow-the-sun support model)
