Sr. Database Administrator

Minimum Qualifications 6+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise database administration, support, and management across multiple database platforms, including: Microsoft SQL Server. Expert-level knowledge and experience in the following areas across the supported database platforms: Database installation, configuration, upgrades, and patch management.

Our client, a diversified financial services company providing banking and investing services, is seeking a Sr. Database Administrator for a 6 month contract role located in Jacksonville, FL. This role is fully onsite.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Formulates system scope through research and fact-finding to develop or modify moderately complex information systems.
• Evaluates and implements changes to existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary.
• Reviews flow charts, models, and procedures and feasibility studies to design possible system solutions.
• Reviews technical documentation to guide system users and to assist with the ongoing operation, maintenance, and development of the system.
• Collaborates with system analysts, engineers, and programmers to design systems and to determine project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, systems performance standards, and interfaces.
• Identifies and documents all system constraints, implications and consequences of various proposed system changes.
• Educates end users on system designs and functionalities through creation of training materials and conducting demos.
• Evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of application operations and troubleshooting problems.

Minimum Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise database administration, support, and management across multiple database platforms, including:
• Microsoft SQL Server
• Oracle Database
• PostgreSQL
• Cassandra
• Snowflake

Required Skills and Experience

Expert-level knowledge and experience in the following areas across the supported database platforms:

• Database installation, configuration, upgrades, and patch management
• Design, implementation, administration, and support of database clusters
• High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) architecture, implementation, and support
• Backup, restore, recovery, replication, and business continuity solutions
• Database migration, consolidation, and platform modernization initiatives
• Shell scripting and automation for database administration and operational tasks and using AI
• Application and database performance analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause investigation
• Audit, compliance, risk management, and automated reporting solutions
• Database performance tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning using tools such as Oracle Grid Control, Foglight, and native database monitoring utilities
• Experience supporting mission-critical production environments with 24x7 availability requirements.
• Strong understanding of database security, governance, and regulatory compliance.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS  and Google Cloud and good working knowledge of Snowflake database administration.

Educational Requirements:

• University degree preferred
