    Description

    As a Data Scientist, you will focus on improving and deepening the level of understanding of our reader behavior. Your goal will be to extract meaning from the data and advise our editorial and development teams on your findings. You look to tell a story based on your findings to assist in developing the product road map to customize our content to better suit our reader. This position will bring analytical rigor and statistical methods to the challenges of measuring and understanding the behavior of the 40 million+ women that shop and consume content  every month.

    As a Data Scientist, you will:

    • Research, develop, and apply methods for measuring and analyzing the performance of the media site and targeted email products.

    • Develop new algorithms and methods for optimizing content performance, revenue, and adoption.

    • Research new ways for modeling and predicting reader behavior.

    • Lead investigations streams of content usage and A/B testing. Advise product team on new features and modules based on findings.

    • Design experiments and models to answer targeted questions.

    Requirements:

    • At least 4 years of hands-on experience working with large data sets.

    • Minimum of a BS in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, etc.

    • Demonstrated proficiency in SQL, SAS, Matlab, or R.

    • Comfortable writing code in python, ruby, perl, or equivalent scripting language.

    • Ability to understand business problems, draw conclusions from data and recommend actions on how best to solve these problems.

    • Demonstrated self-direction.

    Nice to Haves:

    • Experience with Hadoop/Spark, Scala, MySQL, Redshift and other Amazon AWS
