Sr. Data Engineer - Healthcare

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a growing healthcare organization and play a key role in building and scaling its modern data platform. The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing robust data pipelines, integrating enterprise systems, and helping establish the organization''s data warehouse architecture from the ground up. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer with strong expertise in AWS, Databricks, data modeling, and healthcare data environments who is excited to influence the future state of a rapidly evolving data ecosystem.

Responsibilities of the Senior Data Engineer:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines to support analytics, reporting, and operational data initiatives.
• Build and configure Databricks environments from the ground up, establishing best practices for data engineering and platform management.
• Develop and optimize data warehouse architectures and data models to support business and analytics requirements.
• Utilize DBT to perform data transformations, validation, testing, and documentation across data workflows.
• Integrate data from multiple internal and external systems while ensuring data quality, consistency, and reliability.
• Partner with technical and business stakeholders to define scalable solutions and support strategic data initiatives.
• Implement AWS-based cloud solutions and infrastructure to support modern data engineering capabilities.
• Participate in architecture discussions, system design reviews, and technical decision-making processes.
• Contribute to coding efforts using SQL and Python while maintaining data engineering best practices.

Qualifications of the Senior Data Engineer:

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data platform development, or related technical roles.
• Hands-on experience building and managing Databricks environments and data platforms.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python with the ability to complete technical coding assessments.
• Experience utilizing DBT for data transformation, testing, and validation processes.
• Deep understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and modern data architectures.
• Experience working within AWS cloud environments and related data services.
• Strong knowledge of system design, infrastructure concepts, and enterprise system integrations.
• Healthcare industry experience is required with a solid understanding of healthcare data and related workflows.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to partner across technical and business teams.
• Must reside in the DMV area and be available for occasional in-person meetings and team collaboration.

Compensation for the Senior Data Engineer includes:

• Salary range: $160,000 - $180,000 depending on experience

• Remote work flexibility with occasional in-person collaboration in the DMV area
