Florida Power & Light Company is the largest electric utility in the U.S., providing reliable energy to nearly 12 million Floridians. With one of the nation's most fuel-efficient, cost-effective power generation fleets and industry-leading reliability, we're redefining what's possible in energy. Want to be part of something powerful? Join our outstanding team and help shape the future of energy.
Position Specific Description
Florida Power & Light Company ("FPL") is seeking a highly motivated attorney to join its State Regulatory Legal Team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney with outstanding writing, research, judgment, and communication skills to develop deep expertise in utility regulatory law while supporting one of the nation's leading and largest electric utilities.
FPL serves over 6 million customers across Florida and plays a central role in delivering safe, reliable, and affordable energy to one of the fastest-growing states in the country. The State Regulatory Legal Team is at the center of that mission, advising on important regulatory matters, supporting strategic business initiatives, and representing the company before state regulatory bodies. For an attorney interested in meaningful work, complex legal and policy issues, and being part of a high-performing team, this role offers a compelling career path.
About the Role
The successful candidate will work closely with experienced regulatory attorneys and business partners on a wide range of state regulatory matters affecting FPL's operations, investments, customer programs, rates, infrastructure, and long-term strategy. The role requires excellent legal analysis, careful attention to detail, strong written advocacy, and the ability to communicate clearly with lawyers, business leaders, technical experts, and regulatory stakeholders.
This is not a role limited to providing internal advice while managing outside counsel. The attorney who joins this team will have the opportunity to develop as both a trusted in-house legal advisor and an advocate in regulatory proceedings. Over time, the successful candidate will learn and develop the skills necessary to help represent the Company directly in hearings and become a key member of the legal team handling those proceedings.
This position is well suited for an attorney who wants to grow quickly, take ownership of meaningful work, build hearing and administrative litigation experience in a sophisticated regulatory setting, and become a trusted legal advisor within a fast-paced, collaborative legal team that handles high-stakes matters for one of Florida's most important infrastructure companies.
