Sr Cloud Security Engineer (AWS) - Columbus, IN | C2C
About the Role:
Join our dynamic team as a Senior AWS Cloud Security Engineer, where you will play a mission-critical role in safeguarding and modernizing a high-impact AWS-hosted application. This position is hands-on, offering you the opportunity to lead security initiatives, remediate vulnerabilities, and drive automation across a robust cloud environment. Responsibilities:
- Remediate vulnerabilities across AWS infrastructure, containers, and applications to ensure a secure environment
- Harden ECS workloads, apply patches, address IAM issues, and enforce robust network controls
- Investigate and resolve IAM and Cognito misconfigurations to tighten access management
- Upgrade application dependencies, validate updates through comprehensive testing
- Deploy and monitor changes leveraging CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools
- Implement advanced data protection measures, including backup, encryption, and recovery controls
- Coordinate vulnerability validation and closure with internal security stakeholders
- Automate security improvements, enforce standards, and deploy preventive controls for continuous risk reduction
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven expertise with AWS services: ECS, IAM, VPC, Security Groups, Load Balancers, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Systems Manager, Config, Security Hub, GuardDuty, ECR
- Hands-on experience with Docker, container lifecycle management, and hardening
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation)
- Solid skills in Git and CI/CD pipeline management
- Node.js, TypeScript, npm dependency management
- Scripting with Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- Strong background in vulnerability remediation, CVE analysis, and implementing cloud security best practices
- Excellent troubleshooting abilities in complex or legacy cloud environments
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with security platforms such as Wiz, Veracode, SonarQube
- Understanding of CIS and NIST security frameworks
- Experience with Windows Server patching
- AWS certifications
- Exposure to Kubernetes or EKS environments
