The Opportunity
At Designer Brands, data helps power great decisions, better experiences, and meaningful business outcomes. As a Senior Business Intelligence Developer, you'll play a key role in transforming complex data into trusted insights that help teams across the organization make informed decisions.
This is a hands-on technical role where you'll design, build, and support enterprise analytics solutions within our cloud data warehouse environment. You'll partner with both business and technology teams to understand challenges, uncover opportunities, and deliver scalable reporting and analytics solutions that make an impact.

What You'll Need
Required Experience & Technical Skills
7+ years of experience working with BI tools (MicroStrategy/Strategy), analytics platforms, data warehouses, or cloud-based analytics environments.
Experience translating business requirements into scalable BI solutions using semantic layers, metrics, attributes, hierarchies, and reporting structures within enterprise BI platforms such as Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy).
Advanced SQL expertise, including complex query development, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and large dataset analysis within cloud data warehouse environments.
Experience working with cloud-based analytics ecosystems, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Experience working with relational database management systems (RDBMS) and cloud data warehouse platforms.
Strong understanding of tables, joins, keys, relationships, views, and data structures that support reporting and analytics solutions.
Strong knowledge of relational data modeling principles, including entity relationships, normalization, and conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
Understanding of dimensional modeling and data warehousing concepts, including:
Fact and dimension tables
Star and snowflake schemas
Surrogate keys
Reporting and analytics design best practices
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts and partner effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Education
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with SQL-based database technologies and development tools used for querying, troubleshooting, and data analysis.
Knowledge of:
Data governance
Data quality
Data profiling
Data mapping
Master data management
Data standardization best practices
Experience supporting data integration, batch processing, or enterprise job scheduling platforms such as CA Workload Automation (dSeries), Control-M, or similar orchestration tools.
Working knowledge of the Strategy platform ecosystem, including Workstation, Platform Analytics, and administration and monitoring capabilities.
Understanding of retail business processes and metrics, including:
Merchandising
Inventory management
Sales reporting
Financial analytics
Demonstrated curiosity and adoption of emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development, analytics, and automation capabilities.
Experience with additional data visualization tools such as Looker, Power BI, or similar platforms.
