Would you like to be part of a team focused on driving innovation in the transportation industry, while working to empower entrepreneurs, and contribute to Amazon's sustainability goals? Amazon Freight Partner (freightpartner.amazon.com) is a new program that enables entrepreneurs to start and grow their trucking business alongside Amazon, with exclusive training, ability to hire from their local communities, and long-term growth potential.

Equal parts advisor and operating partner, Amazon's team of Business Coaches assist and guide our Amazon Freight Partner (AFP) business owners as they build and grow successful middle mile businesses during a transformational time.

Business Coaches manage the AFP relationship across the entire lifecycle of the business. As trusted advisors, Senior Business Coaches work alongside AFPs to help solve their biggest challenges at a programmatic level; influence their business planning and strategy; and look around corners to identify obstacles and recommend solutions, ensuring AFP owners make effective business decisions and are set up for success.

Key job responsibilities

As a Sr. Business Coach, you will partner with 25-35 AFP small-business owners across the US including entrepreneurs with no background in the trucking industry. The Business Coach will work closely with a portfolio of owners at different stages as they set strategy, help drive accountability and engagement, and motivate and track key performance metrics. A Business Coach will collaborate with an integrated internal team of Program Managers, and Compliance and Finance personnel to ensure owners launch and scale their business in compliance with program requirements. Business Coaches support owners by removing obstacles and improving financial, operational, and safety practices at the network level. A Business Coach will do this by analyzing problems, discovering insights, delivering recommendations, and driving change both internally and externally.

A day in the life

On a daily basis, Business Coaches are responsible for:

  • Supporting owners as they prepare to launch.
  • Guiding owners as they scale their business and manage operational issues, ensuring they have resources in place to effectively ramp-up operations and prepare for peak periods.
  • Coordinating Business and Financial Health Reviews to discuss business performance and new opportunities.
  • Identifying workflow inefficiencies and working to formulate and implement operational improvements at the network level.
  • Willingness to travel (2-3 days/week); the Candidate should be flexible with hours and travel to support the portfolio of assigned AFP owners as needed.

About the team

We are a team of builders whose mission is to reinvent Middle Mile transportation by enabling entrepreneurs, with or without previous trucking experience, to operate sustainable businesses in partnership with Amazon. Learn more at freightpartner.amazon.com

About the Company

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
