As part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific team, you’ll do meaningful work that makes a positive impact on a global scale. Our colleagues help bring our Mission to life every day—enabling our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.

If you have hands-on facility maintenance experience and are looking for an opportunity to expand your technical skills, learn new systems, and build your career in a highly regulated environment, this could be a great next step. You’ll gain exposure to a variety of building and facility systems while working alongside experienced professionals who are committed to safety, reliability and continuous improvement.

    What You’ll Do

As a Senior Building Maintenance Technician, you’ll help keep our facility and critical building systems operating safely and reliably. This is a hands-on position where you’ll perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, respond to facility needs, and help ensure uninterrupted operations.

You’ll have the opportunity to work with a variety of systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, building automation systems, and specialized laboratory equipment, while gaining valuable experience within a GMP environment.

    In this role, you will:

    • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems and equipment.
    • Support the operation and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
    • Monitor equipment performance and identify potential issues before they impact operations.
    • Troubleshoot building and equipment problems and help implement effective solutions.
    • Work with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to monitor equipment and document maintenance activities.
    • Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and equipment documentation.
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and equipment performance.
    • Partner with team members and other departments to resolve facility and equipment issues.
    • Follow established safety procedures and help maintain a safe, compliant work environment.
    • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance equipment reliability and facility performance.
    • Develop your knowledge of facility systems and equipment while working alongside experienced technical professionals.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • 2 years of experience in commercial facility maintenance.
    • Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
    • Experience with building automation systems (BMS) and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
    • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in various environmental conditions.
    • Flexibility to work different shifts and participate in an on-call rotation.
    • Strong safety awareness and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

    Preferred Qualifications

We welcome candidates who have developed their skills through hands-on work experience, technical education, trade programs, apprenticeships, or a combination of these experiences.

Additional experience that would be beneficial includes:

    • Education or training in mechanical and/or electrical trades or related technical fields.
    • Experience with PLC systems and controls.
    • Knowledge of water purification systems and steam generation.

Why This Could Be a Great Next Step

This role provides an opportunity to take your existing maintenance experience and expand it in a technically diverse environment. You’ll gain exposure to multiple facility systems, building automation, specialized equipment, and GMP operations while continuing to develop your troubleshooting and technical capabilities.

You don’t need to have spent your entire career in one specific industry to bring value to the team. Candidates with a solid foundation in commercial facility maintenance, mechanical or electrical systems, HVAC, building maintenance, or related technical work who are motivated to continue learning and developing are encouraged to apply.

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, you’ll have the opportunity to build your technical expertise while contributing to work that supports our mission to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.
