    Role Overview

    Ingersoll Rand is seeking an experienced Application Engineer responsible for the technical application, specification, and integration of medium-voltage (typically 400V-13.8 kV) generator systems in the 2.5 MW and above range supporting mission-critical data center backup power.

    This role serves as the primary technical interface between customers, consulting engineers, sales, and internal engineering teams, ensuring reliable and compliant deployment of MV generator plants in hyperscale and colocation environments.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Serve as the primary technical resource supporting data center sales opportunities
    • Develop and present technical solutions based on customer requirements
    • Lead RFQ/RFP responses, including system design, specifications, and documentation
    • Size and specify MV generator systems (?2 MW) and associated distribution equipment
    • Develop one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and protection schemes
    • Support integration with UPS, BMS, switchgear, and utility systems
    • Perform system analysis (load flow, short circuit, and system performance)
    • Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, UL, and data center standards
    • Partner with customers, consulting engineers, EPC firms, and suppliers
    • Support FAT, commissioning, and field troubleshooting
    • Provide technical training and contribute to product development initiatives

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred)
    • 5-10+ years of experience in power generation, electrical engineering, or related field
    • Experience with medium-voltage systems and generator applications
    • Direct experience with data center or mission-critical environments preferred
    • Ability to interpret electrical drawings and specifications
    • Working knowledge of protection systems, controls, and power distribution
    • Proficiency with tools such as ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower (preferred)
    • Preferred experience with major OEMs:
    • CAT, Cummins, Generac, MTU, Kohler

    Key Skills

    • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Ability to develop and communicate complex system solutions
    • Knowledge of MV equipment, relay protection, and synchronization systems
    • Effective communication and customer engagement skills
    • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

    Travel Requirements : 25%-50%
