Senior Accountant (Inventory and Cost Accounting)

Role Summary
The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in supporting inventory and cost accounting while ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting across multiple entities. This position partners closely with operations, supply chain, and IT teams to strengthen processes and improve the integrity of inventory and financial data.
This role is heavily focused on inventory valuation, costing, and supply chain accounting while supporting month end close, reconciliations, and reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting experience within manufacturing or distribution environments and is comfortable working cross functionally.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate inventory valuation across distribution centers and operational sites
Lead and support month end and year end close processes including inventory and costing activities
Prepare and post journal entries to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records
Perform balance sheet reconciliations including inventory, accruals, and intercompany accounts
Conduct variance analysis and investigate discrepancies across income statement and balance sheet accounts
Coordinate and reconcile intercompany transactions to ensure proper alignment across entities
Support reporting requirements and deliver financial insights to finance and operations teams
Collaborate with supply chain, procurement, and IT teams to optimize inventory and accounting processes
Participate in ERP enhancement initiatives and support system improvements related to costing and inventory
Assist with audit requests and ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and internal controls
Key Requirements
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience with full cycle close ownership
Strong experience with inventory accounting and cost accounting in a manufacturing or distribution environment
Proven experience with journal entries, accruals, reclasses, and balance sheet reconciliations
Hands on experience reconciling inventory accounts and working with inventory operations teams
Experience with large ERP systems preferably Oracle or similar platforms
Advanced Excel skills including pivots, lookups, and data analysis
Strong understanding of GAAP principles and internal controls
Ability to communicate effectively with cross functional teams and translate financial data into insights
