Sr Accountant- General Accounting

Performs accounting functions with a high level of complexity including timely and accurate reporting, monthly financial analysis, reconciliations, and audit schedules, to support the System and its related entities' financial statements. Willing/able to work additional hours as needed and approved by management (i.e. during the month-end close process).

Shift: 8am-5pm

Summary:

Performs accounting functions with a high level of complexity including timely and accurate reporting, monthly financial analysis, reconciliations, and audit schedules, to support the System and its related entities' financial statements. Demonstrates the highest standards of accuracy and sound reasoning and conducts comprehensive research and analysis to inform management, make recommendations for improvement, and implement changes where applicable. Evaluates Accounting practices and methods for reporting to optimize efficiency, accuracy and compliance with financial reporting standards. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or other related field. Minimum of four years of financial accounting experience.
• Minimum of two years public accounting or financial reporting experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of software products with a minimum of intermediate proficiency in MS Excel.
• Strong presentation, written and oral communication skills often requiring a diplomatic approach with customers.
• Ability to function at a high level in demanding environment.
• Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and produce quality results on time with strong attention to detail.
• Willing/able to work additional hours as needed and approved by management (i.e. during the month-end close process).
• Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred:

• Current CPA license Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
• Advanced MS Excel and Access skills.
• Accounting experience in Healthcare industry.
• Experience with Lawson Software.

Physical Demands:
