PENDING CONTRACT AWARD - Provide tier-3 troubleshooting, configuration, and routine/urgent support for SQL Server and SQL Cluster environments, directly enabling operations across all federal business units.
- Manage and support SQL Server database solutions including AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances (FCI), backup/recovery, schema management, patching, upgrades, High Availability/Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) implementations, and application integration.
- Design and govern enterprise backup and restore strategies for SQL Server environments, conduct disaster recovery drills, and validate point-in-time recovery (PITR) procedures to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
- Define and enforce database security policies, manage encryption configurations (including TDE, Always Encrypted), maintain auditing protocols, and ensure compliance with GPO IT Security policies and standards.
- Respond to Requests for Change (RFCs) and incident tickets via the Government's ticketing system, managing request lifecycles from submission to closeout to minimize downtime and enhance service delivery.
- Resolve tickets according to operational SLAs.
- Serve as the incident command lead for SQL Server database incidents, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implement preventive measures to reduce recurring issues.
- Lead or collaborate on SQL Server database builds, upgrades, and application-integration efforts (including but not limited to SharePoint and legacy business systems).
- Perform proactive capacity planning and system health monitoring.
- Provide database administration, development, and maintenance across on-premises servers and cloud environments as required.
- Develop and maintain SQL scripts, T-SQL stored procedures, and automation to support database operations and maintenance tasks.
- Set patching cadence and risk controls; oversee the execution of patching cycles to maintain system stability and security compliance.
- Proactively address system errors and participate in after-hours activities as needed for business continuity.
- Deliver clear, actionable weekly reports that inform Government leadership and business units of ongoing activities, accomplishments, and risk/issues.
- Collaborate within and across division teams and communicate effectively with both IT and non-technical stakeholders, up to executive leadership.
- Support cross-platform database interoperability (including Oracle, MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MS Access) as needed.
