GovCIO is seeking Junior SQL Engineer will support the team in designing, developing, and maintaining database systems, ensuring data integrity and performance. This role is critical for managing growing data needs and supporting business intelligence initiatives. Leaving this seat open may impact reporting, data migration, and application performance. This position is located in Washington, DC and will be an onsite opportunity. 

Responsibilities:

• Assist in designing database structure and layout
• Create, implement, and manage new databases
• Develop, manage, and test back-end database applications
• Write and optimize SQL statements for data access and retention
• Debug and optimize SQL queries; ensure database performance
• Document processes for future reference and updates
• Troubleshoot database performance issues and provide corrective measures
• Work collaboratively with other developers and analysts
• Support data migration, backup, and recovery tasks
• Create visualizations and reports for requested projects
• Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases

Qualifications:

High School with 3 - 6 years (or commensurate experience)

 

Required Skills and Experience

 

• Basic proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts
• Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle)
• Understanding of database design, normalization, and indexing
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
• Effective communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
• Certifications (optional): Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals, Oracle Database SQL Certified Associate, IBM Certified Database Associate – DB2

 

Clearance Required: Must be able to attain and maintain CFTC Public Trust

Preferred Skills and Experience

 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred)

Posted Salary Range: USD $80,000.00 - USD $98,950.00 /Yr.
