A High School Play Set Designer is responsible for planning, creating, and overseeing the construction of stage scenery that supports the artistic vision of the spring play. Working collaboratively with the director, the set designer develops concepts, and layouts that enhance the play while ensuring safety, functionality, and budget considerations. Responsibilities include designing and selecting scenery, coordinating the construction, painting, and installation of set pieces, managing materials and supplies, and supervising students involved in set building. The set designer also assists with scene changes, troubleshooting technical challenges, and maintaining a safe working environment throughout rehearsals and performances.
This position requires creativity, organization, effective communication skills, and the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during production periods.
